NJ pirates are back!Fm DX is beat.

Think about it, if streetz96.com was online only, why would they change their entire brand to streetz106.com if they don't have an associated FM station?

I wonder if Emmis knows about DJ Qua's pirate radio activities that directly compete with Hot 97.

What seems to be the coverage area for this pirate. Can I get them in the Asbury Park Long / Branch area?

No, Streetz can't be heard around LB/Ocean/Asbury because they are broadcasting from Newark or North Elizabeth not to mention WKMK's stick is right next to Exit 105.

Apparently the FCC has been hunting at least one pirate, and hopefully many others, in North Jersey.

According to the FCC website, a pirate on 104.7 in Passaic received a warning notice late last month. The FCC apparently was patrolling a couple of days after this thread was started.

Here's the info:

November 24, 2010

Martin Bravo

Passaic, New Jersey

NOTICE OF UNLICENSED OPERATION

Case Number: EB-10-NY-0502

Document Number: W201132380003

The New York Office received information that an unlicensed broadcast
radio station on 104.7 MHz was allegedly operating in Passaic, New Jersey.
On November 17, 2010, agents from this office confirmed by direction
finding techniques that radio signals on frequency 104.7 MHz were
emanating from your radio station located at 80 1st Street, Passaic, NJ
07055. The Commission's records show that no license was issued for
operation of a broadcast station on 104.7 MHz at this location in Passaic,
New Jersey.

Obviously, the FCC has been out with their direction finders, and obviously, they do respond to complaints.

Driving through Paterson one night recently, the usual cacophony of Spanish language pirates was missing from the FM band, although the Jamaican and, what sounded like, Creole pirates were still blasting commercials on the non-commercial part of the dial.

Possibly, the Hispanic pirates got the word that the FCC is around and they are being cautious. Unfortunately, what is probably needed is for a few of them to really get slammed with jail and deportation and big news stories before the rest of them decide its not worth the risk in New Jersey. But this was just an FCC warning, we'll have to see how the FCC follows up, and who they go after next.

There is a new pirate on 105.5 in the Newark area. Most horrible audio I have ever heard! Plus its less than 20 miles from WDHA!

I think they better go back to Passaic, theres 91.9 and some others popping up all the time on various frequencies.thats the thing
its the same people over and over and over.Jeez
