NJ101.5 WKXW June PPM Numbers Fall to New Lows

You've misread me. It's the accounting types that are meddling in the effort to attract numbers by trying to keep costs exceedingly low (thus stifling the attempt to attract numbers.)

If you have to buy audience, then you're not doing a good job. Attracting an audience isn't about spending money, but about doing good radio. And I don't go for the idea that we should fail so they'll take their money and go someplace else.

You're still misreading me, and I'm beginning to suspect it's a deliberate effort, so I'll just stop now.

Fine. Let me know when you find someone interested in spending lots of money on radio and doesn't care about the budget or ratings.

Yep, you're really deliberately misreading me.

Nope...nothing deliberate. But if that's what you think, fine.

If it's not deliberate, you're working very hard at doing it accidentally. In actual fact, I think we're agreeing, but I'm not going to bother with the finer points of why that is until you work harder at understanding before rebutting.

Friends, not sure why Silvertonic couldn't find that the M/S/U PPM numbers released about Feb 25, 2010 showed NJ101.5 in the number 1 slot in the upper 7's. Contrast those numbers with the June 2011 numbers of a 4.1 and it looks like they are down by almost half since then.

Why anyone would defend mediocre month after month numbers that languish in the 4's at NJ101.5 in such a highly populated lucrative area like M/S/U is beyond any intelligent explanation. A shake up would not be a bad idea to get those PPM numbers back up to where they were in Feb, 2010. Shouldn't the goal be to increase ratings and revenue? No one should be coming on here defending those embarrassing 4 numbers month after month, rather they should be suggesting ways to get them and keep them up.
It appears excellent Townsquare PD Joe Kelly got better numbers when he took over SoJo from Johnson showing that change can be a good thing. Nothing will change for the better if you do nothing.

Radio is a business, not a hobby.

Please provide a link to said ratings book, instead of, you know, not providing facts like you always do.

That's right. You can't. Here's the link.

5.2-->5.3-->6.3.

I'm not denying that NJ 101.5 could use some work. But you need to stop telling flat out lies to try to prove your point. You have zero credibility left, and all you are considered is a pest on the boards.

Like I've claimed before (and sadly never kept), I'm done replying to your posts, and I hope everyone else ignores what you post as well.

You're right. This MedianJ guy doesn't have the gonads to identify himself. Those in the business who know who he is know that he's gutless.

"MedianJ" has to be either Walter Sabo, or someone in his family. Think about it: obviously this is someone who has an axe to grind with Millennium Radio & New Jersey 101.5 (and even if it was acquired by Townsquare Media, the person who was responsible for his termination/replacement is still probably working there). The name "Walter Sabo" is repeated often in "MedianJ" posts. Nearly every single remark made by "MedianJ" has something to do with NJ 101.5, and always points out how fewer people are listening (and attributes the decline in ratings to the fact that Walter Sabo no longer works for them). Just connect the dots...

Before we get into this speculation again, as I noted in other posts, there is NO WAY MedianJ is Walt Sabo or is in any way related to him.

Sabo is a major league broadcast consultant who was a top NBC, ABC radio executive as far back as the 1970s.

He was responsible for creating the format that made NJ-101.5 a success. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Merlin Media, the new big bucks backed startup that is attempting to do female leaning all news on FM in New York, and Chicago, and probably other major markets soon.

He doesn't have time for posting nonsense on a radio board, and has long since moved on from NJ-101.5.

Check out his bio: http://www.sabomedia.com/bios/sabo.shtml

I have always guessed that MedianJ would like to work at NJ-101.5 and assumes that if Sabo were back on that scene he could.

And he also sees the current PD, Johnson, as a roadblock that would have to be removed first. Probably MedianJ has been rejected by Johnson in the past. By trying to get buzz going on this board that Johnson is some kind of failure who doesn't understand programming for PPM MedianJ hopes to help his own cause.

I have answered his posts because I assumed he was a young guy who really didn't understand the radio business, and we all had to learn sometime. But this constant topic is getting old, and the facts don't support what he is saying, and he isn't getting it. That station belongs to new big bucks owners, who have a couple of hundred stations, know what they are doing and aren't going to be swayed, or pay any attention to, a radio board vendetta. Walt Sabo is gone for good and has far bigger fish to fry.

MedianJ needs to get a new dream, and let go of whatever he personally wishes for himself at NJ-101.5. Time for a new direction, new goal, probably a new market where he can learn more about the basics.
