NJ101.5 WKXW Monmouth/Ocean Plunge!

NJ101.5 WKXW FM radio Trenton suffered an embarrassing drop in the newest Monmouth/Ocean numbers. Even with the help of an earthquake and hurricane they suffered an almost one point drop in Monmouth/Ocean. When they go full PPM I expect as illustrated by the massive year to year drop in the M/S/U PPM numbers a big plunge in Monmouth Ocean.

As followers of MedianJ read here first, the talk hosts didn't cut it during the hurricane. The shows are sloppy and if you're not talking Jersey a lot of the time then what's the point of paying for expensive local shows that couldn't keep the numbers from falling even with a hurricane and earthquake? Syndicated shows are now the viable option.

Turn the station over to Eric Scott and his news department, keep Gearhart and Scott, Deminski and Doyle local and put in superior cheaper syndicated shows with expanded local news, traffic and weather blocks everywhere else. As for other news features Ask the Governor is the highlight of the station, expand around that with other Jersey newsmakers, no one does that better than Eric Scott and his news department.

Clark Howard mid-days would be an instant winner with increased revenue and cheaper costs.

this trend ended on august 17.

earthquake was august 23.

hurricane was august 27-28.

next month will tell.

maybe the drop had something to do with casey being let go.

Now now now, don't you go start bringing FACTS into an argument with MedianJ. He only understands speculation!

I pretty much stopped listening after they got rid of the Jersey Guys....who ironically had the highest ratings in the history of the station right before they were mysteriously cancelled.

Speculation? In M/S/U NJ101.5's WKXW FM radio numbers are down almost by half in the last few years. As you just read the Monmouth/Ocean numbers took a big dive. The only speculation here is that with that awful track record why management changes have not already occured? Put a PD in there who can get those numbers up.

Well, the new WEMP 101.9 in NYC isn't doing so hot either, and your boy is running the show over there

Buuuuut NJ 101.5 is still #1 in the market.

Yes. WKXW's 7.4 is SUCH A HUGE DROP from say, Fall '05 when they pulled an amazing 7.5 (not to mention the 6.3 and 7.1 in previous books) http://web.archive.org/web/20060508...UP=1/10/2006&SU=S&BPER=&HPER=&OPER=&NSD=&CE=0

Or wow. That 7.4 means they have lost a TON of listeners from the Spring '08 when they pulled a 7.2! (again, make no mention of the 5.9 and 7.3 in the books before THAT!)

http://web.archive.org/web/20080930...2/2008&SU=S&BPER=5.8&HPER=6.8&OPER=&NSD=&CE=0

Oh yeah, and those ratings are when they were on BOTH 101.5 AND 97.3

You know what? Just for craps and giggles, since you said the last FEW years, how about Fall '09? When...wow... they were WAY higher than the 7.4 they have now... with a 6.7.

http://web.archive.org/web/20100228085451/http://www.radio-info.com/site/markets/grid/monmouth-ocean

Let's not mention that in every single book, they were #1. In what you call "the money" market of Monmouth/Ocean.

And I haven't even dug into Middlesex.

So, keep pining about how their current ratings are LANGUISHING right now... WELL BELOW what ratings they pulled in their good years "just a few years ago" as you said. Everyone else on the board will keep rolling their eyes

As has already been pointed out, the hurricane and earthquake occurred after the Monmouth/Ocean numbers you reference. Please give a DIRECT answer to the question of how the earthquake and hurricane should've given NJ 101.5 better ratings even though they occured after the trend period you say should have been better because of the hurricane and earthquake that...uhhh...hadn't happened yet.

Not only did we read it from you first, it's also the only place anybody has read it.

Then you should act like a businessman, instead of somebody who is so gutless as to be afraid to reveal their identity and instead just posts baseless, and, more importantly, INNACURATE claims.

The thing about speculation is it's often grounded in at least a smidge of factual reality. What we get from the endless, and unintentionally humorous, rantings about NJ 101.5 from their biggest fan ;) redefines fiction, and ignores those pesky details already noted.

Perhaps most comical is that the signature line is true, yet the poster fails to grasp basic business realities him/herself.

Call-off the bloodhounds!

MedianJ -- MIA since the Merlin Media laughingstock launched -- re-surfaces!

Whew,
MediarI

Radio is a hobby if the station isn't doing any business.

Radio is a hobby if the station isn't doing any business.

Anytime I need to feel better about myself, I turn on 101.9 or read MedianJ's post history.

Any stepped on post, fould break, or garbled thought I may have had on my show is gone after that!

Radio done by hobbyists sounds better than most in the bidness of radio
