NJ1015 Processing

I don't here the signature overprocessing and reverb tonight on NJ101.5 anyone know what's going on or did they finally realize that it's annoying?

NJ101.5 has been over processed for yearsIMO. Seriously one of the worst processed stations I've ever heard. I mean speech is tolerable, but music is horid! There is a thing called "Being too loud."
Another station that has killed there processing in the last few years is WSTW.
WTHK never sounded great to me, either.

Speaking of NJ101.5, I see the headline on Radio-Info is that Deminski & Doyle are going to be morning show hosts on a Detroit classic rock station starting in January, after finishing a non-compete time out after CBS ended their hot talk station there simliar to the Free FM days of WYSP. The articles so far don't mention them playing music. I believe when they were at WKXW it was still when they played several classic hits an hour besides the talk. I enjoyed them as I did Brooke & Roberta before them, but I became less impressed with each afternoon change and haven't listened for years. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how they do in AM drive on a music station (opposite talk host Paul W. Smith on WJR, once of WWDB mornings).

i only listened to tommy g.as for overall listening to nj 101.5.....haven't since don tandler left! 'bout time they let him come back!

I agree. I also loved D&D on NJ 101.5. I liked Jay and Hillery, Reberta Gail, Kathy Donnaly, Allen David Stine. I liked it when they played classic hits (twice an hour) as I Remember, or it was three at times. They had better jingles then as well. Fave time for me for this station was the mid 90's-later 90's. Speakin of which, what ever happend to Willy Twiman? I liked his overnight show with Jersey's music and information.

I listen to Tommy G sometimes. I liked Don Tandler as well. Whatever happend to Norm N. Night? Wasn't he on this station as well? Nevermind that, I thought I saw him on the Serius-XM 60's channel ?

I think you're thinking of Norm Latham. Norm N. Nite wasn't on WKXW - he was on WNBC in the 1970's and CBS-FM later. He's now on Sirius/XM channel 6 Saturdays & Sundays at 3 pm live from the R&R Hall of Fame in Cleveland - he's been on Sirius for a couple years.

John I rember reading that Willie Tyman passed away a few years back. Details of his passing were sketchy.

Oh, New Jersey 101.5. How I used to love thee. haha. Please indulge my rant!!! :)

The Jay & Hillapalooza was the best! Roberta Gail has to have been my hands-down favorite personality I've ever heard on New Jersey 101.5. The afternooners back in the day (D&D, Scott & Casey) were always funny but they seemed to often say something "funny" that was actually offensive (and I'm not that easy to offend). That was distressing because I loved listening to the station.

I know that whole thing about impeaching Jim Florio is what put them on the map but I thought they never sounded better than the mid-to-late '90s. What a line up! There were years when I never listened to music radio because my dial was just never not on 101.5 (or 97.3, depending on where I was driving). But things started to go downhill (for me anyway) not long after that.

Dennis & Judi always, always, always make me laugh. They still do when I am in a situation where they happen to be on someone's radio. But suddenly, they became wildly political and I couldn't get through 30 minutes of listening without hearing them insert some partisan "message." It was maddening! I was listening to them for the sort of light, fluffy "lifestyle" talk programming they'd been doing so well and I loved them! Not being able to listen to them was like trying to quit cigarettes! I tried to listen every day for weeks but had to keep turning it off. For months, I'd turn back occasionally but the same thing always happened. It was actually depressing! I missed them. I still do actually!

I don't know why they'd suddenly decide to become so political but it seemed to permeate the rest of the station as well. And it seemed to happen shortly after Millennium took over. So I drew my own conclusion (whether correct or not) that management was asking the hosts to sort-of insert an agenda. It wouldn't surprise me because political talk radio was becoming all the rage right about then. But it ruined my favorite radio station! For my purposes, they may as well have flipped to all-polka!

The Jersey Guys thing was unlistenable to me though I occasionally hear bits and pieces nowadays and it seems as though it may be a lot more tolerable. The show they have on in the evenings is not tolerable at all! The only use I have for New Jersey 101.5 is Tommy G and the weekend music. The music has always been great and Tommy G's show is a breath of fresh air.

Anyway, they certainly don't need males in their mid-30's...and their audience is enormous...so I guess for business purposes, they did the right thing? It's just not my cup of tea. In fact, it's like they took my favorite cup of tea and smashed it into bits all over the kitchen floor! LOL.

But yeah, to get back on topic (LOL): That processing was terrible. Hopefully you're right and it's gone for good!
