No 4th of July programming thus far

It would appear most stations are playing their normal (weekday) modes, Coast 93.3 is playing someone by the name of Justin Timberlake, never heard of him, was hoping to have an extended 80s weekend, 99.9 Mobile won't be having another flashback till Labor Day, bummer, because I really enjoy hearing the rare 80s tracks that don't get hardly any airplay that did get played on Memorial Day, anyone remember Sly Fox "Let's Go All The Way" and Rock Me Amadeus? Hearing those songs on the airwaves brought back memories, despite there digital hash compared to the sound back then, it did bring back memories of listening to WYYY and WNTQ playing the current hits. (Yea, was raised up in Syracuse)

What I found interesting the oldies station was the first to use CD's while everyone else stuck with vinyl!

(Sigh)

Happy 4th all, stay dry!

He was big back when he was a guest on the Lawrence Welk show. I think his music was banned in Syracuse along with Slim Whitman.

Isn't he the guy that designed the shoes? Timberland, Timberlake, same thing right?

Cat Country 98.7 will of course be carrying the music for tonight's Pensacola fireworks show. I assume several other Riverera stations will be carrying music for the fireworks in their hometowns.

Of course, with this holiday being on a Thursday and many/most people having to go back to work tomorrow, it makes it hard to program a "holiday weekend"... it's probably much easier just to give all the talent the weekend off and let the computers run everything until Monday. The tourists won't mind and the locals....

Agreed, it's a shame because I knew someone (now deceased) who used to always work the Christmas shift which was rather dull but he did it anyway. Then, he loaded a huge reel tape of nothing but Christmas music till the 26th, it was either a Sony or some other Japanese made reel deck, the tapes were thick and heavy, too.

Not sure what the length was (about a few hours?) but would love to get my hands on that open reel, FLAC it and pretend it's straight vinyl vs a hard drive spinning. They used virgin vinyl and it sounded good, for an AM station.
