No Apology to R Ho, dissapointed with RI

It's dissapointing to see that the post "Rodney Ho is not a Journalist" and the following discussion was removed.

The management of the website has the right to remove any post for any reason, but I'm still dissapointed to see that discussion removed.

It also concerns me to see what the discussion turned into: a series of attacks on the poster, not a discussion on the topic.

No apology at all for the post. It's my opinion that Mr. Ho could do a much better job of covering the radio market in Atlanta, and the radio world in general.

I believe this site is mostly written by out of the industry observers, or low-level employees of the industry who do not carry much weight. However, I also believe that it is read by many people in the industry at all levels of employment, and could serve some purpose.

Honestly..."Rhohater"? Whats that all about? Why make a name where your entire purpose to show your distain for a radio reporter in Atlanta? Sounds like you should reorganize your priorities in life.

This is how I see it, and if it discussed in the previous post, I applogize...

1. Rodney might not even be writing for us (the industry), as most of the things on his blog are things we (people in the biz) already knew about weeks ago.

2. We have countless trades to tell us the things in more detail since thats their end-all-be-all purpose.

3. The AJC isn't a trade and can't devote and entire section to radio, as a vast majority of the population only care when your station is giving away "10,000 dollas a holla"

4. If you want to know about how much one station is billing, subscribe to RadioInk, R&R, fmqb, Hits, Inside Radio, or the countless other rags who's sole purpose is to tell all the jocks/AEs/programmers all the subtle details that NO ONE ELSE CARES ABOUT.

5. Honestly, have you ever heard Joe Schmo say "Man, if only urban radio stations could bill more than they do" or "I've heard that WXXX's AQH is way down in the last trend...what up with that yo?

6. Allow me to get off my soapbox.

7. Wash rinse repeat.

Just to let you know, I talked to Rodney yesterday from his doctor's office. He wouldn't tell me, a trusted friend for half a decade, what was wrong, but he didn't sound too good.

I hope you are happy.

One last thought, you claim that "this site is mostly written by out of the industry observers, or low-level employees of the industry who do not
carry much weight." What does that make you? Mr. Pot, I'd like you to meet Mr. Kettle.

I agree. I had no issues with the postings at all. I have no clue why the moderators took it down. Personally, I had no issue with you posting it. I respect your opinion. I'd love to correspond with you privately, too. My email is [email protected] and my number is 404-526-5688. I'm open.

And sure, there was a little flaming against you and me but who cares? Esp. you--you're totally anonymous!

I'm surprised you haven't responded to my original response in my effort to explain why I cover radio the way I do in my position as a features reporter (and not a business reporter.)

I deleted the posts because...

I didn't like the tone or the content, which is all the reason I need. Don't like that? Hit "LOGOUT", go away and don't come back. Not satisfied with that solution? Write to the owner/administrator...maybe they'll fire me, and you won't have to be bothered by me again.

Having said all that, the thread(s) in question had been up for a couple of days, and had been viewed by a significant number of folks. Not feeling that the posts or the responses (including mine) had any continuing interest or redeeming value, I cleared them all.

Oh...no need to continue to post to this thread, or to start another. I'm weary of the subject, and I will delete them. The subject is closed, so move on. <P ID="signature">______________
