No April Foolin' in Bend OR - Two Stations Flip

The other 'radio' site reports that 95.7 and 690 in Bend have flipped formats effective immediately.
KLTW 95.7, formerly variety hits as just '95-7 FM', is now 95.7 the Ranch, Classic Country, taking KRCO-690's old format. They claim the station has seen growth with the translator, and they wanted to expand to a 100KW FM signal.
690 KRCO (+ 96.9 translator) has flipped to The Ticket with Fox Sports, and PBP of the Trailblazers, Seahawks, and Oregon State Beavers athletics.

Here's hoping for the best on these new stations!

First seven songs heard: Down at the Twist and Shout -- Mary Chapin Carpenter (1990s), Highwayman -- The Highwaymen (1980s), Heartland -- George Strait ('90s), The Way You Love Me -- Faith Hill (2000s, barely), Time Marches On -- Tracy Lawrence ('90s), Jose Cuervo -- Shelley West ('80s), The Race Is On -- Sawyer Brown ('80s). They seem to be targeting older country fans than KPLX Dallas is.

Oh yes, I forgot about the stations out there that somehow think they're: 1) Clever and the first ones to have though up the idea of switching formats on April 1 to "shock" their listeners and generate buzz, only to come clean on the joke at around mid-afternoon and yell "April Fools" into the mic and resume their regular programming, and that 2) Assume their listeners have all somehow forgotten that it's April Fools Day and will all be gullible enough to fall for this one yet again.

Interesting to see a few stations actually choose to flip on this day for real!

I was thinking "stunt" too, until I read that the AM was picking up Fox Sports and a lot of play-by-play. That's not a format you can pull off as a one-day (or six-hour) April Fool stunt. I suppose classic country on the FM could still be a stunt, seeing as how the homepage still refers to the variety hits format and the player still has Michael Jackson's "Beat It" as the last song played.

Note: Tuned in again and Luke Combs' current hit "Doin' This" was on. Interesting. From there, it was back to classic Alabama and "I'm in a Hurry (And Don't Know Why)" ('92).

Fox Sports was on 94.9 KICE before it flipped to religious programming in late 2020. It brings back FSR to Central Oregon.
