No Cable? No Problem! "NFL Sunday Ticket" Now Available Through PS3

B&C is reporting a new deal in which DirecTV will distribute its "Sunday Ticket" package "to both current DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket customers, as well as non-DirecTV football fans through PlayStation 3 video game consoles." Though you will need to pony up $350 in order to get access to the games through your console.

MLB and NHL already distribute games through PS3.

Should be no satellite? You can't get Sunday Ticket through cable in the US.

And to get Sunday Ticket on PS3 you'll need a broadband internet connection, which for most of us means cable.

For $350 bucks the Sunday Ticket app better be miles ahead of the NHL Gamecenter app for the PS3. The completely worthless NHL app consists of 5 seconds of live game coverage followed by 20 seconds of buffering (lather, rinse, repeat) and that's with a fat FIOS pipe thrown at it.

In other words, if you're patient enough, you can get through a regulation hockey game in 5 hours -- and that's without time outs, commercials or overtime.

That's exactly what I'm saying.
And the NHL Gamecenter app operates at a fraction of the cost at only $40.

I suspect the Sunday Ticket app will do a much better job.
I'm just throwing out compare/contrasts for the topic at hand.

I have the Sunday Ticket and had the streaming package when it was part of the extra Super Fan package needed for HD. A couple of times, I brought my laptop to my parents' house and watched football online. Wasn't too bad. Got rid of the streaming when they included HD for the regular package. What I thought was interesting is no matter where you are, it still blacks out the games on your local Fox and CBS station. For example, if I'm in Boston with my iPhone, it will still black out anything shown in Philly because that is where mt service is located.
