No Christmas Music Station in Fort Wayne OH?

I notice there are no commercial stations going with all-Christmas music in the Fort Wayne market. 95.1 WAJI is still airing its AC playlist. And 101.7 WLDE is still playing Classic Hits. WFWI is a Rock-leaning Classic Hits station so that would not be a candidate. Even Contemporary Christian WLAB 88.3 and WBCL 90.3 do not go all-Christmas.

I can't think of any other market where nobody, not the AC, not the Classic Hits, not the Christian Contemporary stations, goes all-Christmas.

Yes, Fort Wayne is in Indiana of course. One or two FM stations in the market are in Ohio. I guess that's what confused me.

And it is odd that an Adult Hits station, WWFW, is the Christmas music station in the market, and no AC or a Classic Hits outlet has challenged WWFW. But I guess that's left over from when the station was Soft AC and has continued with the current format. I don't think there are any other Adult Hits stations that switch to Christmas music, despite former formats.

WLKO "102.9 the Lake" Charlotte NC, a former soft AC. But this is the first year they've done it.

WFGA "Real Country 106.7" started sprinkling in Christmas music the day after thanksgiving

Could it be that WWFW will change formats come December 26th, or January 1? Going All-Christmas music has become a standard industry thing to do when a station is going to change formats come the new year. The "Jingle-Bells" provide a buffer between the old format and the new, plus the "Holly-Jolly" music may actually increase ratings and revenue which would, often, be especially welcome because, if a station sees a need to change their format, that usually means that the current format isn't working well enough, hence the change.

Much has been covered here, but facts are always good.

-WWFW has played Christmas music since 2014. No one was doing it in the market for several years prior to that. WAJI joined in 2016 but apparently has stopped as of this year.

-KYCH/Portland, OR is an Adult Hits station that goes Christmas every year. There aren't many but there are a few.

-As speculated on, WWFW has continued with Christmas as an Adult Hits as a holdover from the AC days. As Adult Hits stations go, WWFW is more pop-based than average, though.

-WAJI may have chosen not to flip because they are really more of a Hot AC again. Most AC's don't play Billie Eilish, Weezer, Linkin Park and Lit but WAJI does daily.

-WWFW is not flipping formats on 12/26. The numbers are the highest they've ever been and we are very happy with the performance.

Happy Holidays!

Personally, 2-3 days before Christmas is fine for Christmas music. But, to each her/his own. Or, maybe 1-2 Xmas songs per hour a month in advance.
