No Christmas sweeper for WLTW yet.

It's already October 13. I'm not looking forward to the switch-over which is already a few weeks away, but it's coming shortly. I'm surprised that they have yet to introduce the sweeper promoting the switch-over because I remember clearly that last year at this time the station was already promoting the switch. Heck, last year WLTW was promoting the holiday the first week of October. I don't think it's premature to do so. Over on Long Island sister station WALK's breakfast club already had their morning talent Mark and Cindy discussing Christmas yesterday. Mark and Cindy debated the policy of certain school districts not to allow Christmas parties, and the other day they were discussing Christmas decorations. If it's not too early for WALK to be talking Christmas, it's not too early for WLTW to be doing likewise. Like I said I'm not particular eager for non-stop Christmas music but WLTW needs to stop looking absurd and ridiculous and catch up with WALK.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, their sister "Lite" station has a countdown clockon their website counting down to November 15, when they are scheduled to switch to all-Christmas. Surprised WLTW lacks even that at this time...

Re: Christmas Music in NYC 2007

More than ever this year, I wonder if WLTW will play all-Christmas music at all. Honestly, I LOVE the all-Christmas format and usually leave WLTW on throughout the holidays as do many of my friends and family members. With that being said, do you think Lite-fm will do their "all-Christmas" thing this year or refrain from doing so? This year, they have Fresh and WCBS-FM as competition, unlike the past few years.

So, if WLTW DOESN'T go all-Christmas, what station do you think would (if any)?

I hope that WLTW will switch as it always does, the Friday/Saturday before Thanksgiving, but if not, I would also hope that there is another station that would jingle the bells from mid-November through Christmas.

Don't worry CBS. I just heard the sweeper. Coming back from commercial break Burl Ives crooning in the background Holly Jolly Christmas with the announcer booming, " On Thanksgiving it becomes Christmas." Which is the standard sweeper and if they follow the same course as the previous two years it will launch the week before Thanksgiving.

For the life of me, I'll never understand how or why going "All Christmas" for an entire month has been successful for Lite or any station. Rotating the same songs, albeit from different artists, there's just not enough mainstream songs to make it listenable for long periods of time. "White Christmas" is still the same song, whether it's being sung by Bing Crosby, Anne Murray or Hootie & The Blowfish--Boring! Makes me feel like I'm still working at the Mall! December is generally when I flip the dial to to Talk Radio.
