No Commercials?

Just Wait!

> Its not worth it, is it?

If the Internet stream is to continue, commercials will indeed become part of your daily listening.

The reason the commercials are deleted is that the voiceover talent that produced commercials wanted to be compensated for the additional use of their product on the Internet. The broadcasting companies - already saddled with the cost of royalties for the music on the Internet stream - balked at the additional costs.

Now that streams are back, the commercials are deleted to avoid the extra cost. Commercial time for the Internet stream is sold separately from the on-air presentation.

But isn't the cost factor subsidized by banner advertising?
______________

Radio 2006, Lesson 1. REDUCE COST. MAXIMIZE INCOME.

Banner advertising reduces the cost of streaming. It doesn't pay the whole tab. Stream ads are intended to turn the stream into a money-maker.

Re: Just Think!

But why not just leave the ads in and overwrite one if sold. The RIAA thing is over. Get ahead of the curve. It seems that if you leave the commercials out that the streams will become Dumpy. Also the right streamer will have no more bandwidth than an instant messenger. Hence, no cost.

You weren't paying attention, B-Ho. This is NOT an RIAA thing. This is compensation for the COMMERCIAL ANNOUNCERS.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to Brian H%$~r, denizen of the Syracuse/Utica board. Prepare to be confused. I suggest you approach with amusement.

For more information, I suggest you check out that board and check out the posts under the names "M0ney", "Ametuer Our" (sic), "ZzZzZz", "BHOF", "RFdeal", "Captain Midnight", "Brain Hoser", "DISCLAIMER", "The Cue", "Corrections", "*DELETED*", "Objective", and more.

BTW, it ain't necessarily pretty.
Edited by SirRoxalot on 03/08/06 03:19 PM.

Re: Just Work!

You cant charge enough for a website banner ad yet. 100 a pop might help you but 10, no way. The Terra Radio Streams would be much better off leaving the commercials in and selling the "National" appeal to their regular advertisers. The RIAA problems for internet, which were about Union Announcers not getting paid for their commecials getting aired nationally, is over with. It was rediculous from the start. Get your streams started, sell them, and make it good. If you need help, email me. I have a bunch of very good streaming solutions from free to a few hundred a year.
My email is in my signature or click on M)ney, its in my profile.

Gee, since you've posted your real name a number of times, I didn't realize you were so sensitive about this issue.

I have edited my post to remove your real name, and won't include it in the future. BTW, you might want to consider doing something about your e-mail address if this is such a huge issue for you. Ever heard of the term "alias"?

PS - There's a button down near the bottom of the screen to report a post to the moderator. That usually works better than posting in a thread and hoping the moderator sees it.

A year ago a certain someone posting with a name that starts with J promped someone to change the subject line to Moderator when adding to that thread, and it sat there for two weeks. Good point Sir Roxalot. (I'd move you to the head of the class, but you're already there. LOL)

Re: Go Away!

Please try to understand why you are at the head of the class...in 3rd grade. I choose to present myself the way I, not you, choose to. If I choose to have someone look a little closer to find out who i am, THATS MY CHOICE. If something bad happens to me, my email would be because of something I DID. I choose not to broadcast my name fully and you should respect that. YOU should also mark that down as a very bad mistake, not very nice lady. Shame on you. Now you promised "The end". This is "ONE POST" later! Do ya need the couch?
P.S. I choose to let the moderators take their time instead of hounding them. They cant sit in blogs and type all day like well...you. Stop flattering yourself THERES NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE READING THIS.
