How long has this station been on the air? Last I checked KLZT had no HD2 station streaming. For those of you wondering, it is a Heavy Metal format. I'll try to put up an air check for those interested in listening to it.

KLZT use to simulcast KGSR 93.3 on HD-2. Not sure when they changed the format.

They changed last Saturday I believe.

And it's good too, there's no point simulcasting KGSR on KLZT HD2.

I also noticed that KXTN dropped their simulcast of KCOR-AM in their HD-2 and picked up 92.9 KROM-FM. This is a true head scratcher.

Hmmm...that's a bit strange. Considering 92.9 has a clear signal throughout SA and is already HD. I'm curious if Univision is planning on moving some formats around.

Last I checked, KROM had no HD hash surrounding it. This seems like a similar practice that is been used in Houston. KLTN rebroadcasts its feed on both KLTN-HD1 and KLTN-HD3. Weird? Absolutely.

In Austin, KXTN is on Univisions 107.7 HD2.

Back to No Control Radio, Austin360.com said 107.1 HD2 launched last Friday.

KROM 92.9 isn't in HD or at least hasn't been.

Another reason HD Radio has failed.
I get KXTN perfectly on my HD Radio at my home in South Austin, and I had no idea they were broadcasting any HD.

I used to as well along with KSMG 105.3, and 99.5 KISS, not on an HD Radio, but an 1980s GE AM/FM Cassette Alarm Clock bought at Thrift Land on Stassney and South 1st. I guess at that time they were located on Fourwinds Dr next door to DHS. As for the KXTN tower I don't know where that is I do know their office is within walking distance to my second residence.

On 107.1 HD-2
Maybe Emmis is trying out the Heavy Metal format as a stunt, and flipping KGSR sometime soon to metal or active rock and re branding KLBJ-FM to Classic Rock? Then Emmis would have 1 Rock 1 Classic Rock and 1 Alternative Rock station with no direct competitors.

KGSR's ratings haven't been superb and I have noticed a lot less advertising of the station. The chances of a Metal Station on analog FM here are slimmer than Mega going back to analog FM.

Either that or Technical issues on their HD stream. I remember for months not being able to pick up Entercoms KKMJ HD-2, and HD-3.

KXTN is on the same tower as KISS, KSMG and KROM, southeast of San Antonio near Elmendorf.

That makes sense because I could pick up all of them, except KROM (maybe because I never turned my dial past 93.7 at that time)

You'll probably notice a difference with KROM, since they run about half the power as compared to the other three, although their antenna height is similar.

It should also be noted that when 101X broadcasts "No Control Radio" (the show) from 10pm-1am on Friday nights, 107.1 HD2 does not simulcast. Instead, they play elevator/lounge/chime-oriented music, which I find rather refreshing.
