You will find a lot of conservative Democrats in the south... Vote more along the republican lines but still are democrat due to the stigma of being a republican that is still evident in the south (Basically being a republican was a no-no from reconstruction until roughly the 1980s... some people still have that mindset)


Also to answer another poster... New Orleans Pre-Katrina was 60 something percent black but the country station was number 3 in the market due to the ratings from the suburbs that had a very loyal country music listening audience...Basically the whole south is like this.. a Country station's ratings are more from the suburbs and rural areas than the city

plus aside from ratings down here its VERY easy too sell country radio. because the mindset is EVERYBODY listens to country music in louisiana. baton rouge has 3 country stations, new orleans 2. heck if you turn on a radio in hammond you can pick up no less than 9 country fm signals and 2 am..11 total!

Since KZLA has switched formats, markets 1, 2 & 4 are without country stations.

And what a ratings winner the new KZLA is! KMVN down to 33rd place with a 0.7 12+ with the new rhythmic AC format. Yay Emmis!!

KFRG in RIVERSIDE is in 32nd in the L.A. ratings... and they are a Country station... 2 books ago, they didn't even show up in the book...
