No D&C this week? link

http://www.bostonsportsmedia.com/shots/
Even with few alternatives, the choice of sticking with a mostly moronic morning roster is likely forcing even the blindest of 'EEI loyalist to stray from 850 between 6 and 10 a.m.
I hear no evidence of this. Yes the subs are taking some jabs but the prospect of no more D&C hardly sets hearts aquivering. If they come back that's ok, if they don't I'm sure there is enough Pats/RS interest to allow EEI's numbers to stay as high as usual. There will be adequate alternative talent.
I still think both sides are gaming each other and I don't see anything but a new deal in the cards.

when I was listening last night, during a lengthy commercial break, there was one of those "New England business wins" spots with the ELO music... and John Dennis was voicing it. I know it's probably older but you'd think they wouldn't run one with Dennis while this stuff is going on

in any case, I wouldn't mind a new show but please, dear god, no more Larry Johnson.

No more Larry Johnson..............I'll drink to that, Sonic Al. I'm so sick of hearing him, I instantly change the station, which I've had to do the last two mornings, when I realize he's on. The awful voice and accent is more than I can stand. 'EEI must be trying to show D&C up by putting on their worst fill-in. Or else they're so confident that the Red Sox and Patriots will keep their ratings high, that they don't care who they put on the air.

I have sort of mixed emotions on the D&C situation. I don't mid Dennis, but I'm not a fan of Callahan. If Dennis were to come back with a new partner, I wouldn't have a problem with it................unless it's Larry Johnson.

Mr. Spooner sir, Larry Johnson is a man of African decent. So I would advise you to not make fun of his voice and or his accent, or you may be called a racist by other folks who like to post on this board. That being said, D&C who? The only reason people listen to EEI is because the Sox, Pats, and now the Celtics are worth talking about. I wish EEI would find 2 new hosts, I'd even like to hear Dale and Holley take over that shift. If it is D&C I'll be back to listening to Opie and Anthony on my drive to work. I'd rather hear lil Jimmy Norton talk about the Yankees and make an AIDS joke, than hear a long winded John Dennis question.

Mule

I hate D&C and the lack of sports talk but that has been discussed before.

LJ is horrible. That has been beaten to death. Apparently it won't change.

Mike and Mike is a great show. When they stray from sports, even for small periods of time, it is clear that they are out of their element. Also, Greenburg is a huge NY Jets and Yankees fan. I like his views on most things sports but when he goes "homer" (not the poet nor Simpson), he is not easy to listen to. Mike Golic is a pretty engaging radio personality but I hate when he plays the "I played the game and you didn't" card. That being said, I'll take them over anything WEEI has put on the radio during morning drive.

Do you think Entercom has a plan "B" should they not reach an agreement with D&C? The advertisers have to be getting restless. It's starting to sound a tad rediculous as they continue to promote the show as Dennis & Callahan on radio and print ads.

lobel?? i guess bob gamere wasn't available....i guess jason and julie are out to capture all non-sports listeners out there. goes to show you when you're the only game in town you can scam your clients without any guilt.

Lobel may have lost a few feet off his fastball, but he's still much better than a lot of the crap that they've had on. What dial position is Mike & Mike on? I've never heard them. Is it 890AM? If so, that doesn't come in too well out here in central MA.

Mr. Mule..Sir. I can't stand Larry Johnson's sissy-boy voice or his hideous Boston/MA accent; has nothing to do with race. The only reason that I even know his race is that he keeps yapping about how hard a life he had in the ghetto of Canton. That, along with his phony ministry, his lack of sports credentials, his chemo sob stories, his blood sugar count his mother's death of ALS, his brother's death in a motorcycle accident, his abusive alcoholic father and all of the other details of his life that he chooses to bore people with, is more than I can stand. I don't know this much information about people I've known for 30 years. He seems to think that people are interested.

sounds a wee bit hung over or still in the bag,
Yup, my impression too. I'm sureit was just the early am hour but he came very close to a slurrrr a couple of times.
I don't know where Chuck Wilson is living these (Bristol?) days but I'd like to see him get a shot for a few days.

I have to admit Bob made me laugh this morning. A typical loudmouth caller went on a tirade to the point where I though his brain was going to explode. While he was doing this, literally yelling into the phone, Bob was going "Ommmmm" as if he was meditating... finally, they blew him up. That was funny...

as Bill Littlefield says, "it's only a game"...

Bob Lobel's ego is too big for the show. It seems like he has to have center stage at all times. I lost count of how many times he chastised Steve Burton for interrupting him. Didn't someone tell Lobel that's what you do on EEI - shout over each other. I wouldn't be suprised if Burton punched him out after the show.

You, of course, are aware that Lobel is Burton's boss at channel 4. Could be a costly punch.

Well, there you go: The utter laughingstock of all Boston TV news--WBZ--makes a boss out of someone like Lobel.

Film, as they say, at Eleven.

Please, Lobel is a "boss" in name only. Giving the lead sports anchor some sort of ceremonial title is fairly commonplace. Burton and Lobel both report to the News Director at WBZ. That said, I doubt anyone got punched.
