Buffalo No "go to" station these days

I just turned 50 this week. I've been listening to Buffalo area radio stations all my life. When I was younger, Kiss 98.5 was the station I listened to most. When Alice/Jack FM formats were happening, THAT was my favorite format. I remember you could hear Queen Latifah's "U.N.I.T.Y" followed by Toad The Wet Sprocket-- I believe the "iPod on shuffle" idea with minimal/no jock talk was what that format offered and that would be my "go to" station. For a while, I found CHRE 105.7 as my go-to. I also listened to CHUM FM 104.5 from Toronto. And 98.1 CHFI. Lately, if I had to choose one station to listen to in the car, it'd be 101.1 More FM out of Fort Erie, ON, because their playlist is varied. Once in a while I'll listen to 104.1 or 96.1 but both of those stations' playlists seem "meh" to me. I do like when WBLK does their midday remix show with hits from the early 90s-- that's fun radio. And WECK and WEBR do provide an interesting mix of old songs, so I'll give them a listen. Heck, I even tune into WXRL on FM once in a while because I'm so desperate to find music that's not the same old, same old.

What do you think? Do you have a "go to" station these days? Are there any Buffalo/Toronto stations that you can't wait to listen to because they're compelling and interesting? Or is local radio in the doldrums?
 
SPEAKING of Boom....today instead of doing their Totally 80s Friday, they changed(at least for a few hours)to Boo 97.3 and fully got into the spirit of Halloween; lots of drops of scary dialogue from movies interspersed with the music...and when Golden Earring's Twilight Zone was playing, the intro from the Rod Serling-hosted series was heard during the guitar solo and led PERFECTLY back into the lyrics.

The OP mentioned 101.1 More FM. That's been on my car presets for a while. It's kind of like Boom's somewhat poorer cousin(but that isn't a bad thing); their liners have as much wit to them as Boom's does. And like Boom, More FM has a good amount of Niagara-area radio vets(Jack Peets & Brett Ness both worked at HTZ FM, Rob White's been a mainstay at 101.1 for what seems like FOREVER). AND unlike most FM stations, they actually have newscasts on More(usually focused on AM & PM drive). More's sister station, 105.1 the River, runs hot AC like 96.1 does but it seems to take more chances with the music they play(yes, like all Canadian stations they have to devoted a certain percentage to Canadian artists).
