No HD-2 dance on KIIS/LA

Sorry Dance fanatics, but it looks like KIIS has decided to go with the Superestralla approach on 102.7-II, playing Spanish and English CHR hits with Spanish Jocks.

Of course, I'll question if that was smart and if they should have gone dance after all, but RyanCA was right, it just wasn't likely for KIIS-2 to go dance.

Guess now we'll just have to wait for KBIG-2 and KPWR-2.<P ID="signature">______________

Same thing in Chicago, where WBBM(B96) has also launched a HD-2 channel, but with more Rhythmic Top 40 hits.

The good thing for BOTH cities is that eventually a dance music format WILL happen on the HD-2 spectrum. While I had felt things weren't going anywhere for dance (I had posted that a week or two after the demise of Party 105.3 in Long Island, NY), HD-2 just might be the saving grace on the terrestrial side.

I mean, look at Philly and Miami, they have dance music on the HD-2 side. It will be a matter of time before cities like Boston, Orlando, Jacksonville, Houston, San Diego, etc. get dance on HD-2. And who knows, the format could come on stations that are unlikely sources (read..NOT CHR or R&B/hip-hop)

Yea like ANYBODY is listening to it anyways. Their target audience is not rushing out to buy expensive HD radios to get what they can get already. Besides, NOBODY knows about it! I'm curious how many jocks they have. It must be sad DJ'ing to a empty audience..

I think KPWR2 would be the likely choice for Dance following WPOW's lead. It would be perfect for their 20th anniversary. I think people would buy HD radio if theres something radio isn't offering them. How many Hip Hop stations do we really need?

Then what exactly is B96? Isnt it all Rhythmic Hits? HA

Rhythmic=Hip Hop/R&B.
