On the AM band, there is no added choice. There is not enough bandwidth for HD-n subchannels on AM. So what you have is a simulcast in highly processed digital audio on a digital signal that you can receive only if you are sitting almost on top of the station's ground radials, and for the vast majority of listeners, a lot of unpleasant digital-sideband hiss that interferes with stations they'd like to listen to all over the band. To me, that sounds like LESS choice and NO benefit.
