No Jack FM in Lubbock, yet?

Ok, time has come for us to ask this question: Who will be the first frequency in Lubbock to switch to the Jack format? NY, LA, Dallas, Chicago, all have been Jacked now. So it's only an matter of time (hours?) before it happens in Lubbock, Amarillo and Midland.

So, who's it gonna be? I have an idea, but I don't want to be the one to say...

Come on... tell us.

I would guess one of the spanish-language formats is going to have to give up with all the competion. So my guess is 103.5 in Lubbock.

Z102 may change after the results of the book are in, but I doubt CC would go the route of Jack with 102.5. My guess is that CC wipes everyone out and rebrands the station (new name, new everything) It will either continue as a CHR/Mainstream or CHR/Rhythmic. I think that now is maybe a good time to go rhythmic since The Beat has started to try to break new/local artists, possibly losing some of its demographic. I would also imagine that some of that demo is checking out la nueva Super Estrella over on 95.5. Anyway, it's hard to say what anyone is going to do... especially with that big change of ownership thing that just went down!

I don't think it's 103-3

I do not believe 103.3 is the station that is about to switch.
However, I will not say who I think it will be.

Interesting prediction about Z102, but if they haven't changed it yet, I don't think Clear-channel Lubbock (which seems to operate independently of all the rest of CCU) will do anything with Z102.

IF RAMAR was smart...flip Stars to JACK-FM. Otherwise maybe Mix 100. However, I thought only Infinity is flipping thier stations to JACK-FM. JACK in Dallas is Infinity, and I believe others are as well. I think Clear Channel Lubbock and CCU is one in the same..not too independent..they still have to adhere to all CCU stuff. If Z102 was to flip it would be to KISS-FM...just as every other CCU station.

Re: I don't think it's 103-5

(I of course meant to write 103-5, not 103-3, I regret the error)

Not all JACK-FM's are owned by Infinity. For example, shortly after KCBS in L.A. was switched to to Jack, Midwest TV switched san Diego's star100.7 into Jack FM. (http://www.1007jackfm.com).

I don't believe Z102 will ever be a Kiss clone.
That question has already come and gone.

Re: I don't think it's 103-5

I honestly don't see the Benavides switching. I think the station that should consider doing that is 97.3, this is one of Ramar's stations, that in my opinion is not doing much.

I don't understand the difference between 97.3 and 93.7, why don't they just simulcast one station on both frequencies. I thought 97.3 was supposed to be spanish CHR, but it all sounds like Tejano to me, compared to what 95.5 plays.

I think 97.3 would have been too much of a rim shot to be a viable candidate for Variety Hits in Lubbock.

97.3 is more like Mexicana. (If you have digital cable, listen to the music choice channel.) 93.7 is Tejano, 103.5 is also Mexicana, 106.5 is Tejano and 95.5 is CHR.
