No Joke. Star 101.5 Flipping Today Too

It's actually 5 o'clock here on the other coast. Why didn't Hank wait till 5 o'clock there if they were going to use Jackson and Buffett as the first song?

Hmmmm…dare I wager a guess that someone will fill whatever void Star left? Reminds me of ‘17 all over again…

Likely not happening for a bit, if at all.

The audience will simply scatter to Warm and Jack FM predominantly.

Not much of a void exists as a result of Star's demise.

No doubt.

The fact that Star became stagnant, especially after the sale to Lotus, couldn’t be ignored. Something had to be done to fix it.

Biggest question is: can the market sustain 3 full-signal country FMs? (Not counting those in suburban and bedroom communities.)

KPLZ 7-day playlist (showing the changeover on 4/1/2024 at 2:01 PM PT (14:01 military time).
Along with the music song titles, shows imaging/elements info:

Well, that will take any revenue away from KKXA 1520 and 101.1. Look out!

Actually, I'm surprised that a gold country station launched on 101.5. I figured if KPLZ were to flip, it would become a simulcast of KNWN-1000 to fill pockets in Snohomish County and other places where 97.7 is weak. Perhaps with Lotus selling off 97.7 for someone like Positive Life Radio to swoop in and buy it out. This is outta left field.

wow….I think all 3 country stations are probably very concerned. KKWF obviously has less to be concerned about. Seattle has shown NOT to be able to support even 2 country stations. Most agency buyers will probably only buy 1 of them to reach that audience….unless it’s something like a country concert. The cume is what it is….people who like country music. Suspect it will now be shared between stations (if KPNW and KPLZ are so fortunate). Is HANK a syndicated format? Sure sounds like it. I feel for the hard working folks at STAR.

I would think somebody has to be the odd man out in the country format, and I'd be the most worried about 98.9. The Wolf is well established, and Hank fills the older end of the market. The Bull really doesn't have any competitive advantage here.
