No July PPM Discussion?

Your top five are B101, WOGL, WMGK, KYW, Q102.

Upticks for Radio 104.5, WHYY, Praise 103.9 and even 94 WYSP Talks.

Surprised that, even with the Phillies still in the race, they didn't place higher.

I'm sure, with football season just around the corner, you'll see highs for YSP, WIP and maybe some residual love for WPEN.

YOUR THOUGHTS?

They're not yet up on FMQB. I assume you know them because you actually have access to the report. But their not being publicly posted will probably be why there's no discussion.

Where did you see the ratings? All you have to do is click "Ratings" right here on this site!

It is perhaps a surprise that WPHT did not have a spike for the Phillies. But then again, all games are on TV now. If TV is available, radio will suffer.

As normal, radio listening is down in the summer. But WOGL's audience is really showing up as a major factor in Philadelphia.

Do you think WOGL could just be the default station for: (a) the listeners lost by WPEN when they dropped standards, and (b) the listeners Sunny lost and for whom WJJZ is too urban-based? There isn't a whole lot left.

WOGL as the default station is a valid point. WBEB is too rockish for my taste, maybe two songs an hour that I like. No other station comes close. I do like the new WJJZ, not as urban as before. But WOGL does fit into a nice spot for listeners in their 40's and 50's.

WXTU used to be somewhat of a "default" station, but I guess Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, and Bon Jovi may be too much of a stretch for country purists. Ironically, my mom (now 72) loves those songs "Picture" and "Who Says You Can't Go Home." What turns her off is the shrill screaming of Faith Hill & Martina McBride.

I think WOGL is definitely a default station. It's probably the safest choice for a public venue. The other morning our cafeteria had it piped in, and the guy next to me getting his coffee answered their trivia question out loud. That sure sparked a little chit-chat among the people in line. I've also heard it on inside a bank.

Wow. People (according to you....and the ratings) are actually listening. Play the hits, and people will listen. Wacky concept. Weird.

Play the hits & people will listen is gonna be your reason for 98 doing so well Jack come on who r you kidding. 98 doesn't play all the hits they only play the same 200 songs that Anne Gress likes & that's all. U guys claim to be the greatest hits of the 60's & 70's but u don't play anything before 1964 minus Stand By Me, Can't Help Falling In Love & Do You Love Me so give me a break. The station is a default station for listeners who have no choices in this market! Where the hell else are you gonna go for the oldies in this city? WOGL went downhill a long time ago when they started hiring people that know nothing bout the music they are playing. I'm 24 & know more bout this music then the PD does. Last i look Lesley Gore, Drifters, Peter & Gordon, Tokens, Chubby Checker, Bobby Rydell, etc. all had huge hits in the 60's where are they at in your music library?
