No local TV crews on NFL sidelines this year

Dale Hanson said today on his radio show that the NFL has banned all local TV crews from the sidelines during games starting this year. All broadcast images of the games must come from the NFL.

This is insane. Some of the best coverage comes from the local stations angles of the game and the stories within the game. What is the NFL trying to control or hide here?

The Great Tuna has also announced there will be no TV cameras at any drill or practice during training camp this year. It's gonna be hard to sell yur product if you can't get images of it out to the public.

1) Blame NFL Network, thats one of the main reasons why this happened, they dont want to be undercut by better local coverage.
2) Tuna doesnt want everyone to see the potential meltdowns he'll have with TO during training camp.

Sideline reporting is okay, but I rather have someone who knows what they are talking about, not a"coached" Hooters recruit'.

Reporters barred from training? It's about time. It's a distraction especially if you have some one like T.O. and tabloid reporters trying to egg him on in saying something outrageous or do something stupid. You need to train the team, and you need the team to concentrate on training, not the circus. You will still have your coaches and management weekly news conferences and the game itself, plus personal interviews post game. You don't need anymore. It has gotten so bad I wouldn't be surprised if the number of bowel movements of each player would not have been reported.
