Atlanta is one of those markets where rhythmic just will not work. While it lured pop listeners from Q100 and Star 94, it is also one of those stations that urban listeners of V-103, Hot 107.9 and Streets 94.5 would NEVER be interested in.

It was just a matter of time after Clear Channel launced Chr/Pop POWER 96.1. Made no sense for Clear Channel to have both a Rhythmic and Pop station going against STAR, Q, V, HOT and STREETZ.

Except that it 'worked' for a decade at the late WBTS "95.5 The Beat". Cox mostly sacrificed it for News/Talk WSB's benefit, not because it wasted FM space. The biggest shift concurrent with The Beat's demise and Wild's time on the scene is mainstream CHR itself re-acquiring a dance-friendly sound--to the point where you've got R&B/Hip-Hop acts with releases aiming more toward Ryan Seacrest than 106 & Park.

This is a revelation? I don't think most fans of Hot/V/Steve'sPandoraChannel are terribly into Kicks, The River, or The Bull either. Wild wasn't about servicing an urban audience.
