No matter what the kzon format is they usually beat the edge

It is surprising even when the zone was talk they wouldn't always beat the edge but come close. Poor edge to bad there numbers do not look all that great they should not have fired young mark and a bunch of ther things but heres hoping they survive.Bring back all request lunch!!!

It's sad, but the Edge has a lot of things working against them. At the risk of repeating many of my past thoughts on the Edge, I will simply summarize by saying:

Their signal is mediocre to poor (which doesn't doom you to failure, but it's a factor).

Their programming decisions (from personalities that lack personality to their music which is only a slightly jilted HotAC--Mix and the Peak have that market already tied up). The music is a disaster, not only repetitive (like most music stations), but predictably so, no title/hour/daypart separations seem to exist--i.e. one will hear the same songs in the same hours daily. The personalities all sound very much alike--which might not be bad if they were actually good jocks, but they're very mid-market (pukers or very scripted sounding--over annunciation). Chuck Powell is excellent, but the rest of the morning show has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse since Vince left to rejoin Bruce Jacobs on Xtra.

Their Imaging is not hip, nor fresh, nor (most importantly) EDGY at all.

There really doesn't seem to be enough specialized programming either--or if there is, it's under-promoted on the station. KROQ in LA really does a much better job with these types of features... this is what keeps listeners interested.

It wasn't that long ago that the Edge was really a good station in this market.

Again, not to waste a lot of time on this! It has never and will never be the same as say 5 years ago! There is no passion for what made The Edge great... It can not be saved!
