No more BULL

Looks like CC Dayton pulled the plug on country in favor of the 60's and 70's. Probably a good move on their part. Let's see how this format does.

Sadly if you liked country and were particular about the quality of the sound, the move stinks. K99 doesn't sound hateful, but the Rebel and Kiss Country sound horrific. I'm guessing that processing was thrown out the window.

I'm assuming this is another plug-in format via "Premium Choice?" The jock comments are entirely generic so it sounds like it.

Kiss may be running on older processing while equipment gets moved. The cell tower they were going to locate on (north of the I-70 and SR-4 interchange) appears to have sprouted a 2-bay side mount antenna.

Here's the first five I heard:

Always and Forever - Heatwave
Nice to be With You -Gallery
Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett
Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller.

It won't get better, but it could be worse.

Anyone know when Kiss is making the move to 101.5? I was hoping CC would put the GenX format on 106.5 like 100.5 in Louisville....BTW the new station is known as "Big 106.5...Dayton's Greatest Hits". They are streaming on the web.

Basically a replacement to Lite 99.9's HD-2 channel. Not to mention, just Lite 99.9 #2. BAD MOVE. This format is dying, and I don't think this will last long either.

This station has been through so many flips in the last few years.

Country
Rhythmic Oldies
Country
Classic Hits/Oldies

I mean, they had better luck putting on Rhythmic AC or Gen X... but I'm sure it costs money since there's no Prem Choice format for it that I'm aware of. CC is just using 1065 as a flanker right now. I don't think they expect it to do all that well.

Make no mistake about it - this is an oldies station based in the 60's and 70's (though I did hear one 80's song last night, but that must just be the "spice" of the format).

It won't do much, ratings-wise, because the content on the station (whether it's satellite or premium choice) is boring. (I don't really care much to be reminded of what the average U.S. median salary was in 1974. It got me thinking, "why don't you shut up and play another record?" or else give a time check and go into spots). What numbers it gets will be largely 40 to 50 plus (they won't get a ton of agency business, but local direct may buy into it).

Still, it may be enough to keep the electricity bill paid, until they can sell it.

It is boring! But its programmed for the PPM generation. Imaging is not important. Jingles will hit the format soon. They didn't even change the logo on i heart radio. Still said The Bull as of last night.
