No more country stations in the #2 market?

As a listener who watched his favorite 24/7 news only station get preempted by cowboy twanging (KEWS - DFW area), as well as having favorite rock stations in the past go county (KILT in Houston being one), my only comment is "Its about time!".

You've got the KEWS line backwards. It was Sunny 95 before it was All News 94.9 KEWS. It had already been sold and was in the process of shutting down the news operation when the Young Country tower fell, forcing it to give the frequency over to the co-owned country station.

Yes, I know....KEWS sold to a Christian Broadcaster. However, why did "Young Country" KYNG get the favored status of moving to another frequency for uninterrupted operations when any other station would have put up their own temporary antenna, etc. to get back on the air without interrupting/terminating other stations? Not that it matters now since KYNG is long gone.

And to keep from having my views twisted, The tower falling was a horrible tragedy. I hope the families of the 3 people killed that day are doing well as I still send them my condolences for their loss.

I knew I should have moved out to LA. But then again, the band out there is infested with Spanish language "might as well be silent as far as the English speaking world is concerned" stations. I guess every region has its default formats (can't make money so lets go ____ because everybody likes it). NOT everybody.
