No more "Dead-Air Pirate" on 104.5 in New Haven

I discovered this morning (1/14/13) that the long-time "Dead-Air Pirate" in New Haven is FINALLY off the air! :D Good riddance!

I was quite surprised at how CLEARLY John Fuller's BPT x-lator on 104.5 was coming in along I-95 and up I-91! Killer signal into New Haven for 250 watts, 20 miles away!

HERE IN CONNECTICUT SOME X-LATOR sound like they're transmitting with twice the power permitted...

Why would someone play dead air on a pirate station 24/7 for months? Did they forget that they had a pirate station on the air?

How badly did Dead Air 104.5 hurt the translator's signal?

Because they're idiots? ::)

Obviously, they forgot about it! (Which, to me, is unfathomable!) :eek:

Before that pirate went to dead-air, it had Spanish programming on it from time-to-time. This frequency now becomes a bonus to the Spanish population, where it was utterly useless, before! :D

Considering that the x-lator is VERY listenable on I-95 and I-91, now, it was hurting it quite drastically! It was completely overwhelming the signal at least a mile or two into Orange, as well. Now that that pirate is gone, the x-lator is fully listenable in areas where it was not, before.

BTW, I was just in the Devon section of Milford, and saw a small billboard on the Post Rd, advertising it as "Milford's Radio Bomba 104.5" or something like that.

Just for fun, I punched in 104.5, and it was crystal clear. One person was speaking in Spanish, and another said a few words in English in the short time I was tuned in. :) It sounded very professional.
