No more HD Radio commercials ?

I almost never hear any HD radio commercials any more. Most of the time it's either iheart radio on clear channel stations, and Tune in on other stations. is HD almost over?

It certainly seems like the voluntary HD Alliance is not very active.

I actually heard one recently on a Clear Channel station. First time in years, though a bit odd considering Clear Channel doesn't have any HD stations in the market.

though I haven't heard any lately either.

That's because the commercials were not paid for by iBiquity but, instead, run on stations that were part of the HD Alliance for their own benefit. The HD Alliance is an association made up of many of the station groups that have HD station in their portfolio.

Given that the technical aspect is an embarrassment, I doubt many stations want to call attention to it any more.

Hmmm... not sure how much of a benefit they got, considering the only way people know about HD is in cars... and considering all of the problems there is with deployment of the system.

Anybody remember the "Are You Def Yet?" campaign of 2006? Spots done to promote HD, created by Clear Channel's creative services people and spread around the industry?

If not, they're a hoot...and kind of illustrative of just how the rollout was, um, not handled as well as it otherwise might have been.

How about the stations between station? :D

They're still around... HD AM adds two stations on each side of the "assigned" frequency broadcasting glorious "hiss" at full volume. And HD FM adds one station on each side broadcasting a mix of hiss and whine. Great programming...
