No more "INQlings" for Michael Klein

In today's Inquirer Michael Klein stated that this was the last "INQlings" that he was writing. That is usually one of the first things I read in the Sunday paper. He didn't say if someone else was picking it up, or what, if anything was replacing it. I have enjoyed the column for quite some time now, thank you Mr. Klein!

WHAT? That's so sad. thank you Mike for giving us radio and TV info in your columns.

At the very end of today's column in the paper edition, they give two e-mail addresses: one for Klein for his continuing Food coverage, and a separate one for Inqlings. I'd say that shows they're going to continue the column, but they don't have a permanent writer for it, yet.

The end of Michael Klein's column today:

Au revoir

And just like that, my time at "INQlings" draws to a close, after more than 1,400 columns since its debut in 2001. My next stop is at Philly.com, for an exciting challenge. Meanwhile, I will continue writing for The Inquirer - including the "Table Talk" restaurant column - and feeding foodstuff into my "Insider" blog at Philly.com. Thanks for your tips, your feedback, and, most of all, your attention.

After this issue, contact "INQlings" with news and tips at [email protected]. Contact me at [email protected].

I enjoyed reading Michael's Inqlings column, as well as his appearances on the old "Radio Racket" show.

(I'll now sit back and wait for HarryTheK's obligatory "What was the Radio Racket?" reply... ::) )

Looks like it's been sanitized of all broadcast media content. But, maybe that's just the restart.

On another note, Philly.com had been completely overloaded with all kinds of distracting tool bar crap, nefarious pop up banner loads, and video ad roll starts, that the site is painfully slow to load and frustrating to navigate. After sitting through the second painful page load, deleting background pop up crap, the inability to scroll the page until all the loading has run it's course and practically watching the browser crash, I'm gone.

I wonder if their sponsors realized that the threshold of pain is the user experience associated with their content.

Agreed Sam. Page has been getting worse for months now. I rarely go to it anymore. They aren't the only newspaper website to suffer this fate. They're the equivalent of brokered stations anymore...

I second that. Amen, Sam, for speaking the truth. I used to have Klein and Dan Gross' column pages bookmarked but after too many excruciating experiences with philly.com, down they went.

using Firefox 4 with the 'No Script' add on eliminates all that pop up, flash, whiz bang annoying crap for Philly.Com and ALL sites. I never surf without it
