No More NewsCentral?

Tonight (Sunday 12/13), I noticed that the name of the newscast on channel 9 has apparently reverted to "KCAL 9 News." I would assume that the newscast on channel 2 has reverted to "CBS 2 News." The reporters are back to ending their reports with "*name here*, CBS 2/KCAL 9 News." The NewsCentral branding still appears onscreen (you know, with the channel bug alternating between the CBS 2/KCAL 9 logo by itself and a tiny version of the logo above the word "NewsCentral.") What's up with that? Does the new GM have something to do with this?

I first noticed it on Saturday evening, on 2's 6pm newscast. From what I read elsewhere, it very much has to do with the new management there in Studio City. I never felt it was necessary to brand the 2/9 newscasts as "NewsCentral", and at least when they did, they should have integrated the resources of its radio sisters (KNX and KFWB), and maybe called themselves something like "CBS NewsCentral L.A." Then again, I'm just a viewer like everyone else, so it's just my thought.

I am watching KCAL now and all they have really done is not verbally call it NewsCentral, calling it KCAL 9 is more appropriate anyway. If they are dropping NewsCentral, why are the logos still on screen, on mikes etc? I don't think that they are dropping it, just emphasizing that KCBS/KCAL are separate stations and not simulcasting the news, like CBS does with WSBK in Boston.
