No More RadioTime?

I{ was hoping to browse the boards to see why WPLJ no longer works on RadioTime, at least not reliably. Now apparently they are called TuneIn, and no longer offer a program to record radio on the PC.....

Anyone have any updates to this? RadioTime was a godsend in 2005 when it actually worked...

Probably a good idea. The double moniker of radiotime/redbutton would probably confuse people.

Since I posted that note, I found out Tune in Discontinued the old PC Recording software, but is bringing it back new and improved. I just hope it has better support for newer station streams..

usually if a station doesnt work in radiotime/tunein its the station that has changed the link and either a) the site doesnt know the new link or b) the station changed to to a way that doesnt work with the site.

radiotime/tunein works based on links provided by radio stations and by links that radiotime/tunein have found for radio stations.

I noticed the big name broadcasters moving towards flash based links that are sometimes impossible to find the direct link to listen via 3rd party players.

Some just offer their own apps, such as Clear Channel and their "I Heart Radio". Guess they decided to do everything in-house, and as a result, CC stations can't be heard on TuneIn. But the TuneIn app offers so many stations from around the world, it's not like the CC stations are really missed.

As for flash-based streams, they need to be careful doing this, as a lot of streaming is now done via smartphones, and not all of them support Flash.

TuneIn is a great app. I use it on my blackberry. They also have internet-only radio stations and local police/fire scanners if you're into that.
