No More Savage on 1160

There's some behind the scenes things going on. There will be a sub for now.
Savage can come back to TRN, if he has a change of heart.
I'm not sure that the non compete clause has any teeth....

Go and figure. TRN worked this program up to number 3 with a respectable affiliate count.
Not an easy task given all of the choices out there.

Levin must be doing the jig.....

So does he go to Salem?

IMO, they cannot afford him. TRN treated him pretty good as he'll soon find out.

I do think he lands in syndication where he can be live at Noon. He wanted a Noon slot about two years ago when this
whole thing hit the fan. Its kind of why we took him on at Noon. We thought that he would migrate to that time.
Savage had quite a few stations airing the show at Noon.
We'll see how this develops.

A new host has been selected. Word is that he is an industry heavyweight. He starts on Monday.

As soon as i find out......

I can't think of anyone out their who is in the same league as Savage is who has name recognition. I know TRN has or did have Mancow but he didn't do well in this market when He was on the old Supertalk 96.5 in morning drive.

Mancow didn't do well because the show was terrible. Supertalk actually had good numbers when the Angry Guys took over mornings. Too bad upper management was incompetent and pulled thge plug too soon. Who knows what that station would be doing now. Likely better than the 3.1 share it has now.

Only place I hear Mancow is on 105.1/Louisville. He was on Freedom 95 in Indy a couple years ago but they dropped him and went with America's Morning News.

We tried him in Lexington. He had just changed his schtick. It was more than terrible. Holy cow!

Supertalk had pulled the plug one book too soon. Ramsey was killing it on the station. I think that, overall, the station was pulling a 2.2 or so.
Back to Savage. I think what he just did will hurt him. Add to this the fact that the whole industry knows that he could barely do a full week of new shows. There were a lot of "Best ofs" running. Sometimes, you wouldn't get a full show out of him. TRN put up with a lot.
I still think he could have killed it, opposite Rush.
BTW, i heard that the whole non compete story is crap.
Back in the day, i knew someone that was shopping him to other syndicators. About 7 years ago. No one wanted him.

You can't compare Mancow with the Angry Guys.....two different types of shows. Mancow I'm guessing was your typical syndicated talk show. Angry Guys was sports. And SuperTalk wasn't even getting a 2 share when it flipped to 96ROCK (which, by the way, beat WEBN in overall ratings three months in a row earlier this year and is usually number 1 among men 18-34).

I must disagree with you. The book that came out right after the flip, showed a 2 share.

BillF: Today's ratings:
WEBN 4.2
WFTK 2.5
Even when 96Rock was "beating" EBN, their cume was less by over 100,000 and they were separated by .5 or less. Not really a beatdown. WEBN beat themselves. 96Rock didn't really gain on its own.

Mr. Yinger: Good move with the afternoon show.
