I wish the AJC would moderate their comments. Nothing but really, really nasty bashing going on. Sad.

Rich always had a closer relationship with Vikki than me, a relationshiop that long preceded my arrival to the AJC.

I do not know Vikki and I would make the assumption that her announced reasons for leaving are true. Nonetheless, after a successful career of, what, 17 years--I would expect normal human beings to hold their tongues if they didn't have something "nice" to say. What kind of "news" organization would run a non monitored comment section like that? I am honestly embarassed for the author of the article and whomever allowed those comments to be left visible. Bitter, ugly, lame, below-the-belt and completely unfair and uncalled for comments.

Sad news...they've been a team for forever.

Vikki, if you read this for whatever reason, I hope you get better soon, no matter what you wind up doing next.

I don't know Vikki, but to do a successful morning show for so many years is not easy. I admire her being able to survive that long. I did over 25 years in the same place, but that was pure luck. Good luck, Vikki with life in the real world.

I was shocked this evening to hear the news... Vikki we love you and will miss you.... I have listened to the Steve and Vikki show like countless Atlantans since 91 when you guys came to Star94 and still listen to you guys even today... my mornings will no longer be the same...you guys are part of my family and friends it seems... we willl miss you and pray for your health.

Hey, I would normally agree, but I'd rather see the 'warts and all'...

I know it's despicable, but better to see your enemies in the open.

I don't think the current morning show is long for the airways anyway with the pending sale of Star. It may not last untill December.

The same kind of "news organization" that includes a thing called "The Vent". Henry Grady is spinning in his grave....

random thoughts ...........

Maybe Star can lure away Stacey C., former mornings turned account executive at 95.5 The Beat, and pair her up with Nudge. Just think, Nudge & Stacey C. in the mornings on Star 94!

When is Bert's contract up with Q? Nobody's asked the question how Vikki Locke leaving Star 94 "effects Q100". Could "The Bert Show" jump to Star? Could Star relaunch itself as 94Q? That's never been tried before.

Maybe Steve McCoy can slide over to B98.5 and be paired up (like Kelly & Alpha) with Kelly McCoy afternoons. McCoy & McCoy both reading liners!!!! Then maybe Vikki can return to radio replacing Jordan Gray in the midday slot, certaintly voicetracking middays would not be as much of a workload compared to doing mornings on Star.

Where's Curtis in PA? When is Clear Channel going to make 96.7 .... Peach 96.7? Steve McCoy could do mornings solo on Peach 96.7.

Interesting stuff, caller10.

My money is on Cindy & Ray in the morning. It just seems that Star has been grooming them to take over when Steve & Vikki hang it up.

Stacy and Nudge sounds good for afternoons, not so much mornings. I think to answer how this affects Q... Star might have to bring in a syndicated show at this point. Bert show is too big for Star to develop a legendary morning show like Steve and Vicki's.

Unless.. they want to beat Q in all other dayparts besides mornings as they develop a legendary morning show... it might not even make legendary...times are so different.

Best of luck

Yes just the other day Cindy and Ray were discussing how lucky they were not having to get up early and do mornings. Perhaps they will swap with Steve and he will do afternoons solo.

Steve has been in the biz for quite a long time. Could he take the money and run like Gary McKee did? Retire? Enjoy life away from corporate radio?

Heard recently that Coyote McCloud and partner was available after being let go in Nashville. Would Coyote come back to Atlanta and be involved with his former station (WQXI/WSTR) where he worked in the 70's?

I read that Bert just signed a new contract, I think for 6 years.

Just my opinion, but I think the idea of Steve McCoy doing afternoon drive solo is a good one. I personally never have felt the 2-person afternoon show fit the station's format--in terms of demo it does, but not in terms of pacing. Steve McCoy would bring a reason to listen to afternoon drive while maintaining the pace that Star 94 has the rest of the day (except for mornings).

Star might want to consider bringing up Matt & Romona, who do afternoons on Star's sister station in Charlotte, The Link (which is now a talk station), for mornings. Matt & Romona are more edgy than Steve & Vikki but remain within the bounds of good taste.

When McKee was ready to return to radio in 1990, he had several offers, including afternoon drive on Star 94. He chose the WSB-AM talk jock job over playing music for Star and Y-106 probably simply because it was something different, but the idea of Star offering afternoon drive to a former morning jock is not unprecedented..
