No more WALE posts until........

You are on the air with.....
1.A signed contract with all these people you say are on board.I think it is unprofesional you are saying Arlene will be signing a contract. Let us know if she has and it is in writing.
2.Billboards are in place.
3.A story in the Projo.
4. New studio equipment.Yes new equipment. I will go in there if I still have a key or I know people who will be glad to let me in to see it.
5. Audio that does not sound like the show is originating inside the WALE tank at New England Aquirium.
6. At least two live shifts and not off the bird.I'll settle for 12 to 15 hours a day syndicated.

Last but not least....Someone pays the electric bill in Burrilville.Without electricity. You have nothing.

To everyone, PLEASE excuse my absence. I've been drinking heavily at local bars with STATE WORKERS!

Ken, as they say were I spent 80% of my time; I'LL DRINK TO THAT! :p

I agree with Ken and the rest. If radiowaves really wants to see a 990 in action, s/he should come here to Philly and see how WNTP runs. That may be a blueprint for getting Providence back on the air. I'd heard Salem had some interest at one point...

This morning...I'm sitting here w/ my large D&D French Vanilla, my pro jo, my pop tarts, my fuzzy bunny slippers, the dog with his head on his paws and I'm just staring at my radio waiting for something....anything to come out on 990.....back to bed for a nap

You are going to have a long nap!

Hey WKND92 that has got to be the funniest effn post I have read on any board in a long time. I am laughing so hard my dogs are giving me funny looks.

;D

Since none of the WALE posters have mentioned anything about the Nautel AMPHET50 they probably
don't realize it must be located, given juice, brought into specs and activated before ANYTHING else will happen.
If they know what a Nautel is..

If something was happening the Nautel would be powered up and the antenna proofs made. To do that requires a carrier, which has been deafening in its absence. Some of us actually have engineering backgrounds and know more than you give credit for.
WALE has been off the air too long to account for a transmitter installation and proof of performance.

The only way WALE 990 in Rhode Island is if someone can get the frequency and move the tower(s) to somewhere else and operate at a lower power with more direction.
A friend of mine says this may be possible from a North Providence location at 5000 watts I think daytime.not sure about nights but could have a night signal but not that powerful but not that low either.
The transmitter sight in Burrilville should be torned down and this possibility should be dug into alittle bit further.
I dont care about 50,00 watts if no one can hear the signal. At a lower power with more direction they get listeners.

The AMPFET 50 will need to have some TLC given to it, so I'm told. While I was back home for Christmas, I listened and it sounded like it was making nowhere near 50 kW during the day. This was confirmed when I got some pictures of the transmitter site from the Troll himself, and the common point reading was nowhere near 31.6 amperes. From what I could see, it was more like 14.6 amperes...We're not even going to speculate if the pattern is in compliance. One of the stations WALE protects is here in Philly, co channel WNTP, owned by Salem...

Not even close!

The pattern is WAY out (phases and loops out by 35+%), and tower #1 is so rusted out that the riggers refused to climb it to relamp it (all lamps on it are out).

The Nautel has many blown modules and just about all the cooling fans need to be replaced. There is no remote control to lower power at night. I'm not sure whether they have an EAS unit at all.

It's going to cost at least $50K to get that station back on the air at full power and legal.

Gee, I don't know why all the stations spend thousands on engineering consultants, when they can get all the answers right here. lol
