KKSF wanted someone older to host the morning show.

Only if KYLD is actively seeking lower ratings. I've only heard Whoopi's morning show twice for about a hour each time...maybe they were both off days, but I thought the show was a real snooze-fest. I didn't think she handled the interviews well, which is strange, because I used to catch her old late night TV show occasionally and thought she was a good interviewer.
I like and respect Whoopi Goldberg as a talented actor and comedian, but I'm not impressed with the radio show. I know the T-Man has detractors, but I thought his show was relatively popular.
