No MySpace page for Zakk Tyler?

What does that say about a host? That he's not getting caught up in the "Teen" hype of MySpace? Uh.... yeah well, turns out more adults are on MySpace than teens.

The average age on MySpace is now 35 and 68% of MySpace users are 25 and older.

So why wouldn't you use a FREE service to promote your radio show?

To me it says the guy is not hip to the newest ways to get the word out about his show. And with Dave not really promoting his show, you would think he would be looking for ANY WAY possible to get the word out.

Opie and Anthony are the best when it comes to being interactive with it's listeners.
They have Paltalk cameras on every morning. You can listen and WATCH the show from your computer. You can even interact with the hosts and other listeners around the Country. They videotape EVERYTHING they do on the air for people to view anytime they want. They know it's more than just doing a 4 hour radio show. You have to give listeners fun and different ways to feel like they are a part of your show.

Any radio show that doesn't use every tech toy possible is not trying hard enough.
Get on MySpace, Facebook, Youtube, ANTHING that can spread the word about your show!

You think MySpace is hack, for teens, and not a good way to spread the word?
Then you probably won't have long in the entertainment biz.

Oh, ask Dane Cook if MySpace works.

The guy was "let go" by The Loop in Chicago for "not being a high profile personality". I guess Chicago has a little higher standards. Atlanta gets a guy who isn't up to afternoon "personality" standards. Sounds like CBS radio to me. Dave r.i.p.

Form over substance.

Opie and Anthony's audience is very small. Loyal, but small.

Maybe he will drop it once the show starts.

I hope he has a cool AOL Account set-up also and a Geopages site. You need those to survive in this entertainment biz.

Giant Brian and Chaffee have Myspace pages and we know how quickly they blew-up in the ATL.

Maybe instead of catching the late wave of Myspace maybe he should get on the next wave and create his own ringtones. Or perhaps have a real website, cool! Oh wait he does what a hipster. Now he will survive.

Dane Cook has a national presence Zakk is a no name in the ATL until his show starts. Dane Cook was lightning in a bottle. How many Myspace members and how many have blown up nationawide thanks to Myspace. Pretty low odds I would say.

If that is your one criticism of a show that hasn't even started yet, I can't wait for your glowing reviews next week.

I would rather have a radio jock keep one website updated and current rather than have multiple sites that aren't current or that require the listener to go to multiple places for information. Zakk has zakkster.com along with his blog. He has always kept the site up and it mirrored what was going on with his show in a given week. As long as a jock has a web presence and lets his listeners know about it, I don't think it matters where it is. You can do a google search and easily find it.

Thanks Zakk but in the end it's a metaphor for where your head's at... I see no video on your site. You do daily updates but offer no audio of any of your interviews. Photos? Not many. You may not see MySpace as a tool but no one knows you here. Why not offer up as many ways as possible for people to get to know you?

And to the guy that said Opie and Anthony has a small audience? You're kidding right? Name the biggest morning shows in terrestrial radio right now! O and A are top 5 easy! Just because some CBS affiliates dropped O and A for local programming doesn't mean they are not one of the best shows in the Country. I'm betting you don't listen or your opinion would be different.

I have to agree with Radio Listener...one website that has all of the information is a lot more user friendly than having sites all over the place. You can't really judge Zakk's site by what is on it now. When he is on the air, there is much more current content including audio, video, photos, etc. If you look at his archives you will some examples of the kind of stuff that was regularly posted. I rarely missed listening to (and enjoying) his show when he was on the air in Chicago and given his ratings, a lot of other people didn't, either.

My Space might be a good place for people to follow what you are doing, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it can make you. As far as radio stations and/or jocks go I'd much rather go to a well designed and maintained personal web site than My Space or Facebook or any of those type of sights.

Personally, I rather simply give the new jock a couple weeks to 'find the knobs' and then listen to his show for a few days. And decide whether he is or isn't something I wanna hear. I don't give a rat's rectum what he did in Timbuctu (or chicago or wherever), nor what manner of self - aggrandizement he posts on a web site. Since radio is an aural medium, I wanna know what he sounds like and what he has to say.

n.b. I took this approach for 'Giant Brian'. Nothing there of interest. Cletus is still in the 'find the knobs' stage.

Regular Guys did fine without a Myspace page. Regular guys.com was a good website and a lot more info on there than rooting around some P.O.S. Myspace page. 99x operates a very good website also. And don;t tell me they would be better off with a Myspace account.

You guys are missing the point. It's really not about MySpace... it's about forward thinking. Radio is about to have it's worst growth period since the 50's. They have to find new ways to get people to listen. RG's didn't have a MySpace page because it wasn't that big then. Stupid comparison anyway...

Stations’ online intake in 2007 made up more than half of their nontraditional revenue. Seems this whole internet thing is catching on. People want to listen wherever they are. I don't care if it's MySpace or your own site, you can't poo poo technology. If MySpace brings in 100 more listeners than if you didn't have one, then you should have one!

If Paltalk allows people to watch your show, then you should have paltalk. Give listeners MANY ways to be a part of your show!

Yes, in the end it's all about someone's show. But it doesn't hurt to look for anyway to get more listeners!

It seems their efforts would be better focused on a quality product that Paltalk especially with their demo .

No, I'm not kidding. I've listened. I've seen the numbers. I've talked to the executives. It's not looking good for them. They're not even in the Top 10 morning shows on radio. Update your information.

Hmmmmm..... Interesting timing for Zakk's new blog. He talks about new and improved ways to listen and interact with his show when it debuts in Atlanta.
