With the recent move by WIP to rehire Mike Missanelli it pretty much explains why there isn't any new talent on the air in Philly. First of all radio has done a terrible job over the last 10 years of developing a training ground for new talent, thanks partly to voicetracking.Secondly and probably most importantly Philly hates change. They love familiarity and brands. it's one of the reasons why you see people like Missanelli returning to WIP, or Matt Cord back at MMR replacing Dee Snider. Snider had no Philly roots while Matt Cord does. So the next tome you ask yourself, " Why do the same people get hired over and over again in philly radio?", look around and ask " Who else out there would be better?" Other personalities have tried to come into the Philly market over the years, and have failed like Dee Snider. Philly radio listeners like those familiar voices. DeBella is on his 4th station in town, and even Preston and Steve are on their 3rd station. Also radio companies nowadays don't want to put their multi- million dollars stations in the hands of unproven newcomers who don't know Philadelphia. They'd rather stick with name talent like Missanelli on WIP than bring in an up and coming sports talk talent from outside the market.
