No news is bad news on WPHT

I wouldn't call WPHT or WNTP for that matter a news station. Hell even WDBO in Orlando had news but it was morning and afternoon news (this is when they were on FM.) The rest of it was talk. I'd call these stations mostly talk with some news thrown in there for um. I dunno what... lol and i don't think WPHT putting news the way they do makes them any kind of a news station. The news morning drive is there to give the host something else to chew on and entertain the audience with. At least DBO in Orlando could say they have inews morning and afternoon drive, which would make them more of a news/talk station. and if something really big was going on they'd go wall to wall with a full news department. Here in Philly, we don't need a news/talk outlet. We've got a talk station and a news station. which not every market has fulltime news like this. the wall to wall stuff in so far as news would be on KYW and not WPHT. I'd think of KYW as the station giving the news and PHT as the station where the host and callers interact together if something big was going on. Just my .02. Oh and honestly I could care less if WPHT does news. when I tune into PHT in mornings (which I'm not a regular listener either but do tune in sometimes.) anyway when I tune into them its not news that I'm looking for. I like the way they do lighthearted news, where its more about using the news as a way to entertain or opinionize. If I want news on radio i'd either go to KYW or if longform news is what I'm after, NPR and WHYY.

The top-of-hour "news" on WPHT's morning show is just a couple of headlines interjected with conservative political commentary. It is obviously adlibbed and sounds sloppy and unprofessional. And then after a quick weather report they just go straight into the talk show with no traffic, sports, or commercials. I know the excuse will be that if you want real news, you should go to co-owned KYW, and if you want sports updates, go to WIP. But I didn't hear any cross-promotion of these stations, so that's a wasted opportunity, and acting like they're giving some kind of actual news report at the top of the hour when it's really just a slapdash political riff on the day's headlines ruins any hope of the station being perceived as a source of any kind of objective, factual information.
Does that matter at this point? I don't expect WPHT to go all news because you want them to. If WPHT wants to please an audience that watches Newsmax and OAN then OK then. But they have to watch out certain pundits that have or close to going to far as incite another insurrection.
