No Oldies or Classic Country! Wow! Are radio programmers braindead?

lets see Oldies formats in since of 50's 60's music are a dying trend. just like you dont see many Adult Standards stations anymore either. they a 55+ frormats. Ad Buyers dont by 55+
 
True oldies 91.7 Edinburgh, 89.1 Wiliinson, 107.1 Connersville, 990 Muncie (and soon on the translator on FM).

Most alive and well OLDIES Stations and Classic Country stations are in Non Arbitron Markets. WCBS and KRTH in NYC and LA are not true oldies stations since they rarely play pre 65 music these days so they cant be called oldies stations.

How many Arbitron Markets still either have a full market Signal dedicated to Pre 64 Music for Oldies or a classic country outlet. my guess would be not to many
 
We keep talking about it and NO ONE LISTENS!! Note the frustration???: Listen to WCBS-FM in New York for an incredible oldies format. Surely it can and would work here in Indy NAPTOWN!
 
Instead of going BRAINDEAD and trying to COPY Q95 (likely just incompetence), maybe someone should have taken this advice and done this with 101.9. Of course, it's a terrible idea and would've led to bankruptcy just the same! Good management AND good ownership are just something this town has been void of for quite a while.

I thought WKLU had a 4 when they sold to K-Love. Classic Country and Oldies will get you around
a 3.
It might be a good idea for those getting under a 2. There are many such stations.
 
Radio owners are in business to make money. When advertisers decide they want to reach an older audience, radio will start chasing it.
 
With FMS doing it on Saturday nights, there's already too much classic country out there. What age group are you getting with that? 70-80 year olds?

And an oldies station would last as long as an all-80s station - about two months! There just wasn't that much good music from those eras that people want to hear over and over again. If someone has money to lose on a hobby, then it would be fine, but if they're looking to actually pay employees based on ad revenues, it'll never happen.

Not true oldies stations? So playing music from the early 80's, 70's and mid to late 60's isn't oldies? What does it take for it to be called an oldie. All of their music is over 25 years old. IMO that's old enough to be called an oldie. The term "Oldie" is a moving target as long as time continues to pass. As time goes by more music becomes older and thus there are more oldies. You can say what you will but you cant argue with the success of KRTH or WCBS-FM. I wish someone would do that format around here.
 
When a lot of People talk about wanting an Oldies station they are talking bout the 50's & 60's stuff. not the 70's & 80's Stuff. problem is you aint gonna see a 50's & 60's Music formatted station.
 
because even a 20-year-old in 1960 (old enough to have grown up with the '50s/60s music) is 70 now! Not too many people left that remember the good ol' 50s! And let's face it, that music is fairly childish. Just like an '80s format, it would last about two months and would stall out quickly.
