no OSU vs Michigan prime time?

With #2 unbeaten Michigan and #1 unbeaten Ohio State facing off next Saturday, I'm suprised that ABC is not showing it at 8pm eastern. How come? I thought they would get great ratings in prime time and actaully have something good to watch on TV saturday night.

Being a lifelong Buckeye fan, I have looked forward to this game every November as long as I can remember. I can never in my life remember this game being in Primetime.. It has always been an afternoon game, no matter how big it was. Its just part of the tradition of OSU vs MU. GO BUCKS!

The Big Ten Conference locks in its schedule over the summer. Michigan-Ohio State was scheduled as a day game -- and ABC couldn't move it to night even if the network wanted to.

ABC will air Cal-USC at 8 PM ET on 11/18. That'll be head-to-head against Rutgers-Cincinnati on ESPN at 7:45 ET. Go Scarlet Knights!

Yeah I think that according to the contract with the Big Ten once a game is scheduled to be on TV the time cannot be changed. I think the Big XII does this as well because I really wanted to see Texas and Oklahoma in Prime Time as well and it was not. The SEC does do things a little better allowing for games to be selected by the networks on a weekly basis for TV.

The Big 12 is actually pretty flexible when it comes to TV scheduling. When the schedules are released, most conference games just have "TBA" as the game time. The reason Texas-OU wasn't in prime time was mostly tradition, that and the fact that the area around the Cotton Bowl/fairgrounds isn't a place you want to be at night. ;D

Correct. Actually, I have heard from quite a few people that OSU and Michigan were asked if they wanted to switch to prime-time -- and they both declined.

Correct. Actually, I have heard from quite a few people that OSU and Michigan were asked if they wanted to switch to prime-time -- and the offer was declined. I also don't ever remember this game being played in prime-time.

Sunday's sports sections will be glad to have OSU-UM game in the papers. If it was in primetime, many newspapers could not give the score and summary until Monday. Of course in that situation, the Ohio and Michigan papers would wait as long as it takes and I guess many papers have a special section on the game so they can print the rest of the paper and wait for the game to finish and insert the special section.

They are also happy three Sundays every spring to have the charts of the Triple Crown races in the papers. Moving those events to prime time (I'm glad they haven't - yet) would jeopardize that too. Same for the Indy and Daytona 500s as far as the respective Monday mornings following.

Isn't the Monday after the Daytona 500 a Federal holiday (President's Day)?

I've worked on President's Day Monday, more than once (including last President's Day). Unlike Memorial Day, it's not a widely observed holiday. Heck, USA TODAY publishes on that day. So it faintly registers on my radar. For that matter, I've worked on Memorial Day Monday, more than once (but not this year).

All I know that the Iron Bowl airing on CBS at the same time as the OSU vs Michigan game is going to get crappy ratings.
