No Phillies Radio Network for the World Series

aindik said:
Why are they pausing for TOH station IDs? There are no network affiliates. Why not just have the PBP guy say "you're listening to the Phillies in the World Series, on the Big Talker 1210, WPHT Philadelphia" at the top of every hour?

Some possible reasons:

1. I think the local broadcasts of the Series are carried on XM; they knock out the ID and substitute a blurb of their own.

2. They want the games to sound as much like regular season games as possible.

3. They just like the sound of the production IDs.

Back in 1993, the Phils' announcers did the TOH live. I remember vividly hearing Harry Kalas say, "You're listening to the 1993 World Series on Oldies 1210, WOGL Philadelphia". I think the fact that it's carried on satellite, as Rick B. said, is the reason why they don't do it this year.
