no PRIDE Radio in NYC..?

A number of CC HD stations carry the Pride format, ie. gay oriented programming, in other markets.
I'm curious as to why in a city like New York with it's large gay population CC hasn't added the format to one of it's stations.

Not that anybody really listens to HD but the niche stations in this market appear much less cutting edge than most.

I do not understand why 102.7 HD2 has to rebroadcast WINS. Perhaps that should be a place for a gy pride station. Likewise since WCBS-FM is back what is the need to play the same music on WPLJ-HD2, WPLJ-HD3 and WLTW-HD2.

I guess the idea behind 1010 WINS on 102.7-2 is that way you can hear the station in an office tower (assuming you have a properly working FM HD receiver)?

Since FM stations do penetrate office buildings, it seems like a smart use for the HD2 channel. I admit, that seemed attractive to me, since I prefer AM programming over FM, usually. But I just couldn't justify spending the cash for an iffy IBOC receiver. :-\

Cox Radio WSB-AM, Atlanta is simulcast on sister station WSRV's HD-2, probably for the same reason. Also, both WSB-AM and WINS don't broadcast in HD on their own frequency (whereas in New York, CBS has WCBS-AM and WFAN in HD).

KTU actually has the Pride Radio link on its website... you can usually find it about 3/4's of the way down the page in the middle...

Stephanie - someone in an office would likely have a PC on his desk and could listen to WINS online.

A lot of companies, including my employer, have taken to blocking Internet audio streams. They say it uses up too much bandwith and that if we want to listen to music to just bring in a real radio in or listen to tapes/CDs.

I am yet to hear a - k-rock HD2 channel...

That's great if you want to hear ABBA's "Dancing Queen" and similar stuff over and over again. You think any gay teens-20 year olds listen to this stuff? :p

in regard to "dancing queen' the answer is actually yes, thanks to the continued broadway success of Mama Mia!;
I play a hard version of "Queen" at The Bunkhouse still, and the queen agers go wild and dance & sing along!

Wow, I guess it can be considered a queer popular standard, huh? ;D

The last time I frequented a gay club (or any disco for that matter) was.....some time in 1999. The Roxy, to be exact.

a lot has changed in a decade;
hip hop rules the gay dance floor with the new breed,and instead of a 'new music, underground' mentality, a populist, Top 40 attitude has taken hold;
circuit party; 'boom boom boom' house music is SOOOO last century dot com!
The Roxy closed for a reason!
