No Skywave Halloween

Reduced Skywave Halloween -

valid 1830 PST to 2015 PST

location: western Washington

Below are a few examples:

Absent or much reduced:

KNBR-AM 680 San Francisco
KDWN-AM 720 Vegas
KGO-AM 810 San Francisco
XEPRS-AM 1090 Rosarita, Mexico
KSL-AM 1160 Salt Lake City

Local western Washington stations without the usual interference to groundwave - this location is well outside the service area of all of these:

KCIS-AM 630 Edmonds/Seattle 5/2.5 DAN
KGNW-AM 820 Burien/Seattle 50/5
KIXI-AM 880 Mercer Island/Seattle 50/10 DA2
KMAS-AM 1030 Shelton 10/1
KPTK-AM 1090 Seattle 50/50 DA2
KKNW-AM 1150 Bellevue/Seattle 10/6 DAN
KLAY-AM 1180 Lakewood/Tacoma 5/1 DAN
KKOL-AM 1300 Seattle

I'll reply to this when things "return to normal."

Any other observations?

With such terrible ground conductivity here it's like night has turned into day!

Lasted about 5 Hours

At 2345 things seem almost "back to normal," with KDWN,KGO,KSL,XEPRS, etc. all back. As usual, KPTK 1090 is almost completely obliterated by XEPRS 1090.

However, KKNW and KIXI still seem stronger than normal at this hour, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Anyway, KPTK, KKNW, and KIXI have pretty good signals when the skywave dies. If not for the skywave coupled with low ground conductivity, they would have better coverage areas.
