No Summer Book Talk?

The book came out today. K104 is back on top. KESS to second. KSCS held steady and the Wolf had a big slide. Jack lost 6 tenths of a point and I predicted KESN would be under a 1 share. I was close. One tenth more downward and they will be.

No shock,no surprises, and the overall radio dial remains ho-hum.

I’m sure Oldiescat will defend Jack as usual, probably proclaiming their (assumingly) #1 in the core demo… But as far as 12+ numbers go, the novelty continues to wear off.

I forget when did KEGL flip to Hispanic programming? Was it in the summer? Does the upward trend reflect the flip or are those Sunny numbers?

I seriously doubt Jack is #1 25-54 this book. My guess is their 25-54 is down, but still decent. The question is will they move up and down somewhere in this range OR has the novelty worn off and will this be the start of a longterm decline?

They flipped in August. So their rise in the last leg of the book was all Preciosa. This is the station to keep an eye on. Anyone who was critical of the flip will be very suprised at what they see in the trends to come.

I guess no surprises for anyone folowing the trends. Still, there was some movement this book.It wasn't totally stable. WBAP has been in a slow, steady decline for several books in a row. KPLX is at an unusually low level. KLLI was up nearly a share. La Preciosa had a good first month. The Edge fell close to a share. Has Jack peaked? KRNB had their best book in recent memory, not bad considering the signal. Those are some of the highlights worth discussing.

David Eduardo ... help please.

Well, bragging rights over 12+ don't mean that much to the suits any more.

I forgot too. I bet David Eduardo did not.

David ... help.

The book was July-August-September. The first two months were Sunny. Both months they had huge gains. They would have had an even bigger September. No doubt about it. La Preciosa did well in September, but Sunny would have done just as well considering the trend they were on and the station was just beginning to take off. Enough of that. The station who benefited the most, (obviously) from Sunny's demise was KVIL, and their numbers are still pretty bad. KLUV did well as usual, but not many of those numbers are coming from Jody Dean. Maybe if Jody would stop talking about himself and Channel 11 for five minutes, things would get better. The Edge has BIG problems right now, and needless to say, bringing up the rear again, MIX. Would somebody PLEASE put this thing out of it's misery? It's over.

The big numbers for KEGL were in September per the Arbitron actuals. They are off to an excellent start. Th3ey were on all the last 4 weeks of the book.

I've always wondered -- how would WRR really do during the day if it didn't have to carry the Dallas city council meetings? For those that have the data, if you took out Wednesdays when they are compelled to carry the Dallas city council meetings -- sometimes until 6PM, what effectively would be its ratings?

I have to imagine listenership is almost 0 on city council meeting days -- it's of no interest to 80% of the market that doesn't live in Dallas. Even for the folks living in Dallas, it probably is of little interest to listen to. Certainly, it wouldn't be in the top 10 overall, but I imagine it's hard to average out those meetings.

WRR, city council meetings, ratings ... David Eduardo, help again please

Obviously, it is a HUGE disadvantage to have the combination of windbags and dead air -- on the air so often.

How it extrapolates as far as ratings, I don't know.

And my brain is too scrambled like the eggs to even think about it now.

Bet David Eduardo has an idea or could venture a guess.

More like 99 percent including those that DO live in Dallas. Look at the turnout in city elections.
