No Surprises Anymore

It is interesting to note that the last few format flips have all been announced ahead of the planned flip. All News 106.7, SportsRadio 92.9 were all mentioned weeks if not months prior. Even Q100s moves to 99.7 didn't come as a surprise. I can see this generating a lot of discussion and buzz before the flip.

In the '00s secrecy dominated: 94.9 The Bull, Project 96.1 and 95.5 WSB were all revealed at the time of the launch.

Funny how these things are cyclical.

You can't exactly play 10,000 songs in a row commercial free on a talk station now can you?

I agree, Tibbs. This is a function of the formats. 106.7 and 92.9 had no choice but to announce early because assembling their staffs would have definitely leaked out. And while the moves of Q100 to 99.7 and the format flip at 94.9 were not announced in advance, they were heavily rumored.
