No traffic reports on 98.7 The Fan

Is there any reason why 98.7 WHFS does not have morning drive or afternoon drive traffic reports. 98.7 has plenty of local sponsors which could sponsor traffic reports including one where I hear the president of a home security system only about four times an hour. Why couldn't WHFS 98.7 a CBS Radio Station offer traffic reports like 620 WDAE does with Daisy Ash. I would think Kirk & Dinger as well Rich & Booger could yield a few minutes during their shows to get traffic reports on the air.

The Fan is off my car presets and I have flipped to The Bone permanently. I only listened for about a month before I couldn't take anymore of Rich Hererra -- and I thought he would be long gone after the Rays got rid of him. Apparently others have done the same, which is why 98.7 is sitting behind an AM religious talk station in the Arbitrons.

...and to respond to the original question, since the previous poster had zero to contribute to this thread, I wonder since the well to do have their oh so accurate GPS machines on board now, does management feel audio traffic may be a waste of time?

The flip side is that in Orlando, WDBO actually has three people working traffic in the morning, including one in the air.

You can have the GPS system out there, do you have time while the radio is on to see which bridge and roadways doesn't have traffic. Would GPS tell you that tornado may close roads and you would have to go another route. It is hard to believe that CBS Radio of Tampa doesn't think any traffic reports during drivetime is important. All the other CBS big market sports stations have traffic. It is frustrating not hearing traffic reports when WHFS has the time to put them on the air.

98.7 would be better off worrying about the traffic to their own station, let alone Gandy Blvd.

Why can't The Fan do traffic reports, they can use the same people from Q105 , QYK and Wild.

Doesn't Clear Channel have Gary McHenry on all their stations. What about Cox, I remember JD and Dick Raynes were doing the traffic on all their stations at one point. Denise Kelley also did the traffic with Cox as well. I remember because the School Bus I rode my senior year had the radio on "The Eagle". Plus I listened to "The Dove" and "The Point" at home and clearly heard the same traffic announcer as "The Eagle".

I mean really, how much will that cost CBS.

Traffic reports would be an improvement to 98.7 The Fan. Surely, all sports news and talk on 98.7 as well 1010 isn't cutting in Tampa Bay. CBS Tampa is operating 98.7 on the cheap now that they added national CBS Sports Radio. Genesis Communications can keep an all-sports station with no ratings on the air for a few years. CBS Tampa can't keep FM 98.7 on the air with no ratings even if it takes a few years.

If you have a 0.4, I doubt that traffic reports are the answer.
