No"Tube"

Now that "The Tube" has run out of money, what will KDAF-DT show? Ideas, suggestions?

Is this really a shock? Anything from WB, CW, Tribune running out of money? ;D

No"Tube" and now, no LATV

LATV replaced The Tube on 33.2 shortly after the latter's demise. But as of today, KDAF has dropped LATV.

When KDAF picked up LATV, it was a bilingual music channel, much like MTV Tr3s is today. But after MTV Tr3s came to Dallas (and, presumably, other markets in which LATV was available), LATV began to change. Over time, it became more of a general youth-oriented Hispanic channel, with little music and almost no English-language programming.

I guess it never found a niche between the MTV Tr3s audience and the general-interest Hispanic channels, and KDAF finally pulled the plug. KDAF is promising replacement programming "real soon now," but they aren't saying what.

TheCoolTV? Or am I just a hopeless optimist?

What's so baffling about this is that recently Tribune did a big dog and pony show about signing up LATV for several of its stations. (Including, I think, NY and LA)

The Cool TV would be good. They could also steal RTV from 31.4, though I doubt they will.. and I kinda don't want them too. The folks at 31.4 seems like nice people dedicated to local TV. KDAF is run by a corporation based in.. Chicago?

Says KDAF plans to bring new programming in the near future.

Yes, but that's pretty vague: "This screen of text will be replaced by 'something else' in the future." Could be The Cool TV; could be infomercials; could be English; could be Spanish; could be a virtual fireplace! I'm guessing they haven't yet decided what the replacement will be.

If anyone wants to lobby KDAF regarding the replacement: http://www.the33tv.com/about/station/contactus/

I'm on my knees praying that TheCoolTV will come back to DFW....
