Because a stupid TV rule , The Celtics and the Bucks will not be on TV ( sunday January 29 2006 ). Shame on ABC and the NBA . If a game is on ABC , no other games can be on tv ( at the same time as the ABC games ) even if ABC is not airing that game , How stupid is that .Here a Idea , NBA should put the ABC games in the afternoon and all the rest of the NBA games at night . Its just that simple .
______________
LAPD tell the truth ! Who did that to B.I.G.

And if a local station decides to pre-empt the game locally for tripe like the "700 Club" telethon (which would be the case on two ABC stations in northern Michigan this weekend), hope you don't like basketball.
Edited by rugrats1 on 01/28/06 05:07 PM.

Yes, NBA broadcast rules protect the national network. If
the game is scheduled in the network window, local
TV broadcasters are shut out. If you want to blame someone,
blame the Bucks. After ABC released this game from
its potential regional telecast list at the beginning of the season,
the Bucks should have moved it out of the network window and scheduled
it after 6pm, but instead they kept the same start time.

Assuming that there are three or four NBA games being played on a Sunday afternoon, ABC should carry them all as regional telecasts. The network will probably get higher ratings, since there would be hometown teams televised in six ot eight cities instead of just two.

That would be the reasonable way to approach this, since NBC used to do it when they had the NBA.
