No Word From Woggle?

I just checked Woggle's website to see if they had a tribute page about Hy Lit...and nothing.

Whether or not he left on bad terms is irrelevant in my opinion; Hy was a radio legend and spent a lot of years there. It seems to me that the appropriate thing to do on Woggle's part is to post a memorial/tribute to Hy Lit for all his years of service and offer condolences to his friends and family.

However, I'm not surprised that they haven't done this.

Thoughts?
 
Pantano did recognize Hyski on his Saturday night show this weekend, as was reported by another poster. So it's not like the news was embargoed on 98.1 by any means.

That's cool, and I'm glad he did. I'm not surprised that Pantano and Holiday mentioned him on air. There's a big difference between what personalities who knew him might say on the air about him and the BS that does (or in this case does NOT) come out of the mouths of big corporations.

In other words, the suits probably aren't allowing any OFFICIAL word about his passing. Sad.

I actually read (or imagined reading?) that Hy's family requested that 98.1 NOT air a tribute to him - and that would include any mention on their site, apparently.

It might be a personal issue, in which case I don't blame the Lits or WOGL. It's a shame that the closest still-running connection to Philly radio Hy Lit had can't do anything official to commemorate his career, but oh well - at least we've got Hy's website.

It was probably planned for weeks, but WOGL today started an A to Z "Weekend" and most of the workday today was all Beatles music. An unintentional tribute to the man who brought the sound - and the band - to town!
 
It's a shame how corporate radio will not recognize those that built their money making machines.

Sweat dreams, Hy. I can only imagine the conversations you'll be having with George, John and the amazing gang that are waiting for you.
