No Y&R on today (New Year's Day)?

According to titantv.com, The Young and the Restless would air on New Year's Day, and was listed on several CBS stations' schedules for the first day of 2009....But in the Quad Cities, WHBF-TV aired paid programming from 11 A.M. to noon. Did anyone get to see YR today?

Phoenix Arizona's KPHO also didn't show Y&R. I forgot to check and see what was on. On 2 January I checked SoapNet for "yesterdays" Y&R and I saw an unfamiliar scene where they were celebrating New Years Eve. Maybe that is what CBS will show on Friday.

I didn't see what was on yesterday, but just guessing I'd think it was pre-empted for a bowl game, or there was time to fill either with early Noon news or an infomercial (YUK! :p) before the game started.

Maybe CBS offered up a rerun for the few stations that would have had an hour-long opening on their schedule? With the bowl coverage starting at 1, any station running news at noon only needed to fill an hour locally. Or maybe the stations' online schedules were just plain wrong.

I guess you can't go backwards into yesterday on the on-line
listings sites--at least not with zap2it.com.

A starting place to check would be WCBS-TV New York. What
did they yesterday at 12 and 12:30pm ET? Since Y&R is fed
12:30-1:30 ET for the east coast, and if the bowl coverage
started at 1, what did CBS air at 12:30?

This of course is all further complicated by the split feed of
Y&R to the Central zone (12-1 ET/11-12 CT), and the fact that
the bowl game goes "live to all stations" meaning 11 MT/10PT.

KYW in Philly filled the 12:30 slot with paid programming, so it looks like CBS didn't offer anything to the folks who take it at 12:30 ET

Wasn't the Rose Parade on at 12:30 Eastern?

CBS doesn't air the Rose Parade any longer.

WISH-TV filled with some documentary on skiing. I don't think the net was up at 12:30 ET.

Y&R usually doesn't air on New Year's Day.

Somehow we missed an episode. There was a "New Years Eve" episode that definitely wasn't shown on 31 December or 1 January on CBS. Cable's SoapNet showed it at least once on 2 Jan.

They also aired the noon news followed by an infomercial.

I should also note that WNBC also aired an infomercial in-between the Tournament of Roses parade coverage and the outdoor hockey game. What a sad reality for broadcast tv if this is the best they could come up with in New York.

CBS fed an episode of Y&R on the 11AM Central feed. Perhaps, as the last poster stated, it was a New Year's Eve episode...maybe kind of generic in nature and didn't necessarily affect the plot. I didn't see the show (my affiliate is one of the rare ones in the Central Time Zone that carries the 11:30 feed), but I saw it scheduled at 11AM in neighboring markets.

Could have been a repeat, but the one aired on 12/31 was New Year's Eve themed. Think about it--CBS wouldn't pay to produce a new episode--important to the plot or not--that most affiliates wouldn't run. It makes more sense to air either a recent repeat or something out of the vault.

Mystery solved.

There wasn't an episode on 1 January. I went to CBS.com. For some reason, KPHO in Phoenix didn't air the 31 December at the normal time of 11:00 MST. The 31 December episode was shown on 2 January on Soapnet at "yesterdays" Y&R.
