No Yankees on WWCO 1240

How long have the New York Yankees been off WWCO 1240 in Waterbury? I don't recall if they carried them last season. I remember when WATR 1320 in Waterbury was the Yankee station when I was a kid in Bristol.

I know that they're still on WPOP.

It's too bad WPOP's nighttime signal is so terrible, which is bad for Yankee fans since most games are played at night. I know someone that lives in Farmington less than 10 miles from the WPOP transmitter and they can barely pull them in at night. In most parts of the state you'll have better luck with WCBS.

I know, I live in Windsor Locks and the signal sometimes is so bad, it can barely be heard. Sometimes I could hear WPOP's signal better in Concord,NH than here in CT.

From what I was told the Yankees WERE NOT on WWCO last year.

You are correct, Marc. Coverage on WWCO stopped at the end of the 2009 season, and the station had carried the games since 1993.

Sometimes I have to switch from WCBS to WPOP for the Yankees when I'm on the road near Hartford. WPOP's audio processing is horrible compared to WCBS's.

I live in Bristol and WPOP is unlistenable at night. I have to listen through the station from WCBS 880. (I downgraded my cable and no longer receive the Yes Network). I wish someone would buy WLAT 910 from GOIS and make it an English Speaking station and grab the Yankees rights from WPOP.
Every Hartford area AM except Red Sox giant WTIC has issues with nighttime reception somewhere within the market, and even the mighty 1080 gets some interference from WBAL 1090 Baltimore. WLAT has plenty of coverage gaps west and north of their Farmington towers at night, aiming toward New Britain, Middletown and Meriden. WDRC cuts out in the Farmington Valley. Both WDRC and WPOP can have impressive skywaves, for what that's worth. Certainly none would replace WWCO for Greater Waterbury's Yankees fans (the original topic of this thread).

At night, WLAT's signal cuts out at the Windsor-Hartford border,so one can't even hear it it northern CT, even if there was something on its airwaves that was actually listenable.

As I've mentioned on this board a several times in the past I work at Illusions Dance Club on Route 69 in Wolcott. Driving down Route 69 from Illusions to where I live (just off of 69 in Bristol) there is a stretch where I get nothing but static and noise on WTIC 1080, makes it kind of annoying if it's just after 2AM and I'm trying to catch The Weather Forecast for the next day.
